With the Splinterlands 6th anniversary ongoing, it is the time for the weekly battle mage challenge and we have the Holy Protection as the theme for the week, I really don't know why I rarely see this ruleset this season, well  it might be because I decided to build up my modern rating from scratch, battling in modern league isn't an easy task at all, you still need to master the strategy of how things are done in that section, no matter how I manage to set my formation which I do think it good, my opponent will still find a way to beat me up. 

This week theme holy protection give all cards the divine shield ability which means the first attack have no effect on the receiver, the divine shield absorb that first attack,  this rule set always make sense in some battles and users do love select cards with such ability and whenever there is a resurrection in place and the card had to reborn, it will surely come back with the divine shield if it has it in the first place. This ruleset isn't really dominate and have no strategy to it, so most times we have to

In this battle, we had the Fog of war as the second ruleset which means no sneak, opportunity and snipe abilities allowed in the battle  so I had to switch to my magic strategy, using melee in the second to sixth position will be a dangerous move since they won't be able to attack and I don't want to  be at the disadvantage edge. We had 34 mana capped and we could pick from any element, checking my collection I wish to use my normal water summoner but I noticed I need extra magic attack but I don't have the summoner to use so I decided to switch my way and pick Quora since it can always last longer in battle unless been act upon by affliction force so I went with earth element and pick the conscript summoner to use in this battle. 

There is no way I will use Quora  towershead without using a martyr cards adjacent to it because once it got activated, it will make Quora stronger, so I placed Fungus Flinger in the first position to be destroyed first then place Quora next to it with both bloodlust and heal ability, I decided to use magic cards next by using Centauri Mage with the return ability incase my opponent decided to use range cards, it will dealt damage back, then I use Khmer princess just to fill the space but it would have been a nice idea levelling it up to receive the tank ability and lastly I picked Goblin psychic as my backline since any attack can't touch it unless there is scattershot present. I submitted this battle since I was satisfied with my selection, I use magic cards for a reason just to neglect any armour present and just hit the health directly.

At some point, I think my opponent didn't really pick his cards well especially with the range cards I'm seeing, even though he decided to use a tank healer too, but my goblin is there to make it even worse for him, Quora was able to work well also  after increasing in stats which make it more stronger and at the end, I won the battle free and fair. What do you do during this kind of rulesets?
