Wednesday I was zapping on our TV and came across "RTL Late Night", it is a talkshow hosted by the dutch TV host Humbero Tan. I just tuned in when Snow Patrol was about to play. To be honest I hadn't heard from them a long time but that was perhaps because I wasn't really following them. In fact I can only remember "Chasing car's" by title from them.. In the small introduction Humberto talked to Snow Patrol's frontman Gary Lightbody. Turned out that they were six !?! years absent due to problems (Gary) with depression and alcohol addiction... I was shocked in a sense that I didn't knew that at all. Humberto said that he admired the openness of Gary but asked him why he talked so open about it.. His answer was short but so spot on "I didn't want to hide it anymore" .... Again a case of pressure on musicians or? I can't tell because I don't know the details, but I do think (like the posts I wrote about earlier) that the pressure can be enormous in the music industry and that (if you are susceptible to it) you can succumb to the pressure or fall into drugs, alcohol or medicin.... But enough about that... I was supprised (very positive) about their new single "Empress" what a great song...This song is part of their new album (after 7 years) called "Wildness". Driving towards work I listened the album on Spotify and I must say, this is for now one of the best albums I have heard te last months... almost every song is just as good as it get's... I will listen to the older albums just to look if there is a lot of difference back then and their current music... If you have a opinion about that, please leave a comment. I know for sure I will be listening this album for some longer time, perfectly mixed... Great sound, and great songs... If you listen to the lyrics you indeed can hear the struggles it has been the past years for Gary, he did say that most songs where written with the problems in the back of his mind... Of course I'm sorry for him, but proof that pain can create beautiful things.... Listening to Snow Patrol also got me triggered again on a Dutch Musician called "Blaudzun"... He is a great musician with some great songs... For me he is the perfect "Festival Musician" .... In this video he plays in "Paradiso" Amsterdam.... A great venue... https://youtu.be/gPIz04_2UMM
Have a great day and keep the music alive
---
I fully support @s3rg3 and @exyle, who are witness with their developer group @blockbrothers for the Steem blockchain.
