## How should I begin this post?
**What is the PAL discord server?** ---
http://minnowsupportproject.org/wp-content/uploads/2017/07/MSP-PAL.png

> The Peace, Abundance, and Liberty Discord server is the true home of the Minnow Support Project. Live voice and text chat are always active, on a wide variety of channels, covering a diverse set of interests. Join the community in the pond to make friends, have fun, get help, and prosper. – [source]( http://minnowsupportproject.org/discord/). --- ### In the beginning... You see as I first started on this platform, I didn’t know anything about it. All I knew was what I heard from my boyfriend’s brother. He said it was “a social media website that pays for every post you make.” Obviously, my first thought was “free money for posting like I already do on other social media? Hell yeah, I want in!” Little did I know, it wasn’t as easy as it sounds. I went and did a little research. I'll be honest with you. I only looked up information on how to get upvotes and the money they mention. That is when I found them. I found out about this bot “ **@MinnowSupport** ” on this discord server call “ **PAL** ” and started using it right away I needed the upvotes cause I needed the money!!! And let me tell you that 0.1 STU (Steemit token unit)upvote the bot from MSP gives you is a lot for a person living in Venezuela. I was very happy with that. Then one day, as I was waiting for the cooldown to end to upvote my next post, I usually just drop my link in the #upvote channel of the server then leave. I decided to go to #General-Chat-DeepEnd and saw all these people chatting in English, as you may know, I'm from Venezuela my birth language is Spanish. I saw an opportunity to practice my English. So, I just jump into the chat. In real life, I'm a very shy person. Online, however, I'm not that scared to say hi to a bunch of strangers. Little did I realize this community, this chat room, and my whole concept of Steemit would change that day! The day, I learn about ***COMMUNITY!*** ### Community, learning, and friends. To me, PAL is a home and a teaching center. I have found so many amazing people in there. People that have inspired me to be a better Steemian, inspired me to help others be better too, and you can always ask what seems like the dumbest of questions. They will help you without judging! What I like the most about this community is how supportive they are even if you are a people like me with no real talent at all. I'm not a writer, or painter, or a musician nor a photographer. All they want is for you to be successful in your Steemit journey. They even dare to care for you in your personal life too 😮I know what you are thinking and yes they are weird people. > [TEAM-Venezuela](https://discord.gg/QqcCQDB) So, as I learn that the server had other channels and not only the upvote room, I found this little room call #Team-Venezuela I was so excited to learn that we had our little space in this huge pond! I started noticing that the mods not only had their hands full with the work that requires to moderate over 40 channels that the server has, but there was the fact that neither of the mods speaks Spanish. They use a bot to help translate, but they could use a little help. This inspired me. I wanted to help give back a little of all the new knowledge I had acquired from them and just help my community. I started keeping an eye on the Spanish speakers that were asking questions. So, I started helping any way I could by translating all that I could or just helping with the information needed to the ones asking for help. ### Can I be a mod, Who me, a mod? And I guess this brings us to the point of this post, I reached out to by the lovely @kubbyelizabeth with a question I first thought was send to the wrong person: “what are your thoughts on being a mod?” yeah I totally thought she got the wrong person she may be mistaking me for someone with a lot more experience and maybe more talent than me, but after I asked her 123456789 times if she wasn’t wrong, she assures me that yeah indeed it is me the person she was meant to ask that question.

### What are my thoughts on becoming a Mod at MSP PAL Discord Server? 1. These people are really crazy to even consider me for a position like that. 2. Will I go crazy with power if I become one? Well yes probably, and that will make them regret the decision but hey it would be their fault not mine so... 3. Am I worthy of such an honor? I seriously doubt it and that is why I think they are crazy. 4. OMG YES, I WANT TO BE A MOD at PAL. Please accept my application!!!! ###
The question now is: what could I offer to the community of MSP/PAL?
https://cdn.steemitimages.com/DQmVbiEVwHKe5EGTuK82G8KTMTsCyhAuYhPdCdjtWmaGJJf/msp%20hispanic.png ***Well, I honestly do not even consider myself a minnow!*** I am probably just a plankton and there is still so much stuff I don’t know and I'm learning but my community project would be to help where I see I could be the most useful and that is obviously with the Spanish speaking community. I would love for Spanish speakers to stop seeing the PAL as a “drop your link and get an upvote only” server and start hanging out more. Also, teaching them the ways and rules of the server, helping them with any problems they may have, and just making MSP work more known on the Spanish speaking community. This is my vision and it would be a huge honor for me to be able to do. > I would honestly do this with the mod title or not cause let's face it, it needs to be done! I am excited to help MSP in any way that I can. I am honored to be considered for a Moderator position and I promise to make an effort to not suck so much if you support me, I will do my best and give my best to this awesome community!

--- ***If you are not yet on the community what are you waiting for?*** [](http://minnowpond.org/) ---
Since joining the platform, I've learned a few things: ***Did you know?*** What is a **Minnow?** the new users of the SteemIt Platform, **Dolphins** are the medium sized accounts with over 5k SP (steem power), and **Whales** are accounts with over 50k SP. <- these definitions are not set in stone is just a way to identify users in the community.

  [source](https://steemit.com/steemit/@barrydutton/steemit-101-what-s-a-minnow-dolphin-whale-etc-anyways-by-the-numbers-resources-for-new-steemit-family)
---
**What is a Steemit witness?** > A Steem Witness is a person who operates a witness server (which produces blocks) and publishes a price feed of STEEM/USD to the network.
