Bitcoin digital currency transactions (cryptocurrency) increasingly rife in Bali. In fact, such transactions are still classified as illegal practices in Indonesia. Therefore, Bank Indonesia (BI) immediately conducted an investigation on the Island of Gods to check whether there are still ongoing transactions. According to the Head of Bali BI Representative, Casa Iman Karana, Bali is indeed one of the largest tourism destinations in the world. Therefore, this gap is used irresponsible person to perform Bitcoin transaction. "We searched from several posts on social media if Bali became a 'paradise' Bitcoin transactions," Karana said as quoted by Reuters, (1/2018). Since the end of 2017, BI and the police have even started investigating and checking on any business that allows Bitcoin transactions. Noted, of the 44 places of business, the remaining two are still doing Bitcoin transactions. Both are cafes located in one of the southern areas of Bali. The rest includes car rentals, travel agencies, and jewelry stores. "There are still two (cafes) in use and the rest have stopped using Bitcoin transactions," he added. Karana reveals, business in Bali obviously reap the benefits of each transaction. Take for example, there is one cafe that uses Bitcoin of 0.001 Bitcoin (more than Rp 243,000). Each transaction is expected to last up to a half hour. "That does not include the additional cost of Rp 123,000," said Karana. He asserted, BI will soon block the business because it is not subject to regulations. Together with the Directorate of Investigation of Government Institutions, we will continue to promote that legal transactions conducted in Indonesia should only be conducted using rupiah. Therefore, Karana also appealed to the public to be more careful with Bitcoin transactions because there is no official authority that regulates the digital currency. "We remind the public to be more careful with transactions other than the rupiah because there is no regulatory authority, no law, not clear," said Karana.
