The Earworm I Just Cannot Seem To Properly Get Rid Off Recently: 'Rum And Coca Cola' By The Andrew Sisters From 1944/1945
Hello once again, dear readers from both HIVE and outside of it! Today I also wanted to share my most recent earmworm that I just cannot seem to properly get rid off, more specifically the cover version of the calypso song 'Rum And Coca Cola' by the American swing and boogie-woogie musical group [The Andrews Sisters](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Andrews_Sisters) from 1944/45, dating from the end of World War II to be more specific as well.

I stumbled upon the following video while browsing for some American vintage music during the beginning of the month and throughout my first audition (which was very enjoyable I should add as well) I got very amused by the lyrics and relaxed by the melody and rhythm of the song. Down below you can listen to it as well:

What I did after I listened to the song for a couple of times alone was to even share it on my LinkedIn profile for fun and then, some days after, a connection of mine commented something very interesting about this song that it is in fact a cover by a calypso singer. For those who don't know, [calypso](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Calypso_music) is a type of Afro-Caribbean music which is native to and very popular in Trinidad and Tobago.

After digging deep myself on the internet and thereby searching for the origin of the song on Wikipedia, I found out the fact that my LinkedIn connection was indeed right. 'Rum And Coca Cola' is actually a cover by The Andrew Sisters which was initially composed by [Lionel Belasco](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lionel_Belasco) (from Venezuela) and then lyrics were added by [Lord Invader](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lord_Invader) (from Trinidad), both two prominent musical figures of the calypso genre.

Anyway, regardless of the origin of the song, it definitely got stuck in my head for good and I'm very glad to be able to share it as well since it is both humorous and melodic at the same time. Good job and well done Andrews Sisters and the two calypso musicians in the first place! Thank you so, so much for a great musical experience.
