The Edit is Mightier than the Pen: Understanding Media Distortions through Fake Movie Trailers
__Lots of things are taken out of context these days and many people don't even understand how ridiculous these things are. For an example a stupid unfunny communist comedian got charged with a crime that could get him a 1 year jail sentence. The crime was a cringe worthy YouTube clip from 2016 where he specifically mention that he isn't racist. It's a sad attempt at comedy and I think commies are bringing our civilization to an end. But that doesn't mean we can let governments arrest people for "shitposting". Here is a comment from him:__

>“It’s been two years of my life completely put on hold, I’ve not been able to get a job, there have been threats against my life… threats off Antifa, far left radicals.”

>“They’ve tried to portray me as a racist and a Nazi, apparently context doesn’t matter anymore.”

<h2>Context isn't just important; Context is Paramount</h2>

__Above was just one of many million examples. More laws are only going to make things worse and worse. For an example, you can get jailed for talking to a women in Nottinghamshire (UK). If you send a text that a woman find "offensive" you have committed a hate crime. But the response to such mad laws were like this:__

>"We're pleased to see Nottinghamshire Police recognize the breadth of violence and intimidation that women experience on a daily basis in our communities,"
- The manager of Nottingham Women's Center, Melanie Jeffs

>"Women and girls face a tidal wave of abuse and harassment every day. Our law has to send a clear signal that this is not acceptable. It is a crime."
- Sam Smethers, Chief Executive, The Fawcett Society

>"recognizing the scope and scale of the violence and harassment that women face every day."
- Rachel Noble, __Women's Rights Policy Adviser at ActionAid U.K.__

<h2>Sometimes the Best way to illustrate Madness is through comedy</h2>
__I belive in the power of effectively used comedy. So I'm going to show you a bunch of trailers purely broght into existence by taking things out of context. It's really surprising how many little moments were present to make Clarice Starling and Hannibal Lecter were in love when taken out of context.__

__What do you think of Shawshank Redemption? A good narration to spin things in a different direction and some editing tricks could make the highest rated movie on IMDB look like some stupid forgettable love story.__

__Selectively picking up parts where Wade Wilson(To be Deadpool) is dealing with his terminal cancer. Everybody knows that this is a very small part of the movie. But when the sole focus is on that part, Deadpool can be made to look a lot like the movies that did end up winning Oscars. Just think what would happen if this was about making something come across as terrible. The new Jumanji movie had to face some stupid controversy because of some stupid new channels were writing click-bait nonsense about random pics from the movie: https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/heat-vision/jumanji-remake-karen-gillan-outfit-wardrobe-explanation-reason-989387__

__That was only just a movie. What if it was a carrier or even life of a human being? Do any of these "writers"/ "journalists" bother to think about that?__

__And you haven't even seen anything yet. With clever enough editing you can make one movie look like it was made by someone else.__

__You can also give a movie a completely different tone in the vain of making facts into hate speech. One great recent example would be [Google’s Ideological Echo Chamber: How bias clouds our thinking about diversity and inclusion
](https://www.scribd.com/document/355823379/Google-s-Ideological-Echo-Chamber) which was a 10 page document that logically and scientifically attempt to talk about certain topics which resulted in a nonsensical mess. The above link directly leads to a copy of the memo on scribd.com__

__Going beyond that, there are ways to make great movies to look like they are just forgettable garbage. All the hard work and expensive footage taken from expensive cameras can be undone with some few edits and then packed like they are just forgettable things that really doesn't worth much. Take a look. Can you even say that this is a 2015 movie with a $40 million USD Budget?__

__Everything I've been trying to tell in this post can be summed up with an old picture circulating around the internet. I just elaborated on it.__

__You may have seen the picture and threw it into some corner of your mind. When thinking about media, you might not have thought much about it. So every time you look at some "News" try to think of the trailers I've presented you here.__
