When outdoors the normal mission would be to gather wood and strategically make a fire to cook over a bed of coals. But what if you are in a situation and you have no electricity or grill? After doing a google search looking for some cool new idea's for my next camping trip I found this :-) This ingenious DIY camping cooker and grill is known as a Swedish or Finnish Torch. It is made by cutting two crossed notches into a log about 30cm (1 third ) down the length of a 90cm log . The YouTube channel La Fabrique DIY demonstrates how they cut their Swedish Torch below. https://youtu.be/2LZa4ociIOQ Video Source: [Popular Mechanics](http://www.popularmechanics.com/adventure/outdoors/how-to/a20261/make-this-diy-camping-grill-using-just-a-log/) To start the fire is simple, place your preferred tinder on top of the log and allow some of it to fall down into the notches, Once you have enough tinder up in there torch it! The open notches allow the fire to breath and will allow air to circulate freely, quickly igniting the interior of the log. Once the inner of the log is burning you can set your cast iron pan or pot on top and instantly start cooking. With this DIY grill you'll have a consistent heat source to cook your food on that will keep you warm for a few hours.
