An Introduction into the Life and Times of Brian Kent
My name is Brian Kent and I am your garden variety father, personal trainer and STAR WARS nerd lol. I was born and raised in Houston, TX for the whole of my life. As a kid growing up I was the shy type, sure I had friends but not many. I was the one who when too many others came around, I usually went home. I would come up with an excuse or just leave when no one was looking. I wasn’t very comfortable with people I didn’t know. I think that's why I retreated into the science fiction world hence the STAR WARS nerd comment earlier.

My childhood was alright, good parents, good friends though I never really had much to do with my brothers. And it remains that way to this day. We’re just a little too different to really get along. I had a mom who worked at my elementary school so I got away with nothing. And a father who had stories for days of the crazy and funny things he’s done over the years. For example, he actually drove a 65’ Mustang of the Seawall of Galveston in 1968. The car was fine! No kidding! He just restarted it and drove home. Yeah, that wouldn’t happen with any of the cars produced today. My Toyota would be totaled. My mom was a little more by the book, sometimes I wonder how they ended up together. Maybe opposites do attract after all.

By profession I am a personal trainer specializing in mobile services. Funny how the kid who couldn’t really stand being around strangers was now walking into people's homes he knew practically nothing about. I guess that’s when the idea of adapting for success came into play. I mostly train older individuals and entrepreneurs. Most of my clients currently do run their own businesses or are retired from running them. It just goes to show me, the best way to succeed is to be your own boss. I enjoy the freedom it allows me time wise with my son, and also I get to see a direct correlation between my hard work and my results business wise. I got tired of working for someone else and not really seeing any of the benefits.

And then there’s my real full time job; being a dad. Honestly I didn’t even know I was a father. I got a text from an ex girlfriend of mine literally on January 1st of 2016 with the words “we need to talk” in it. It was an eye opening experience, here I was at an all time low financially and now I have a son. Talk about fears coming true, my biggest one was having a child and not being able to amply support it. But then again, I do perform best under pressure. So I got out there, I hammered away and got more clients. Next thing I know I’m holding a baby, MY BABY and having no idea what to do. I literally have held 3 babies in my life up until that point. And I would wager all 3 of those experiences wouldn’t add up to 10 minutes. I was wondering how things would work out between the ex and I. Since then we got back together(it didn’t really end bad between us, we were just both busy with our lives) and eventually moved in together. More on this later!

I learned about Steemit from my friend Ryan @XtrodinaryPilot. Ryan and I have been friends for 15+ years. Now that I'm looking at that picture, how time has passed lol. Ryan we're so old! I look forward to reading the articles here and joining in on the discussions.

So here I am, just a father trying to run a business while trying to teach my son right and wrong according to the trinity: Star Wars Episodes 4, 5, and 6. The original trilogy. None of that prequel crap, we don’t allow that in my house!
