The Base 10

[Sumerians](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sumer), who are known to have lived between 5th and 3rd millennia BC, up until 2004 BC, are said to have used Base 10 numbers in their calculations, for obvious reasons so that they could use their fingers to count all of them. With 10 fingers, humans find it simple to use Base 10 rather than other bases, and this is the reason it's the standard one.

Let’s forget about Odd Jhon of Olaf Stapledon, and ask yourself, why the heck 12 hours and not 10 hours in conventional time measurement, why not 10 hours if it is so easy to count? Why are the days and nights measured in 12 hours blocks?

Base 12 is duodecimal, which means 0,1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,A,B,C… so if you want to write number 12 of the base 10, you will end up with number 10 of the duodecimal. It is interesting though, we use duodecimal to measure day and night, but we use base 10 decimal to communicate the time.

There are numerous ways you can express Decimal numbers (Base 10).
i.e.
2018 can be expressed as a 4 digit number, where 8 is filling the place of 1s, 1 is filling the place of 10s, 0 is filling the place of 100s, and 2 is filling the place of 1000s.

To elaborate, (2 * 1000) + (0 * 100) + (1 * 10) + (8 * 1) = 2000 + 000 + 10 + 8 = 2018.
To further elaborate this, (2 * 10^3) + (0 * 10^2) + (1 * 10^1) + (3 * 10^0) = 2000 + 000 + 10 + 8 = 2018
