Freedom of Speech is taught to young Americans around the country as, perhaps, our greatest virtue. We are able to openly express and communicate any idea publicly, under the obvious restrictions of keeping civil. We grew up laughing at the French and other Europeans for having laws that prohibited a polite person from conveying thoughts and information that the government did not tolerate. So we were taught. 
In fact, the USA does not enjoy an unrestricted version of Freedom of Speech. Only on paper does our Constitution allow it. And if you remember what George W. Bush said about the Constitution, it's just a damn piece of paper. More realistically, if you openly express views in public that are contrary to established beliefs and customs, your character will likely become the target of attack by media, various interest groups, and the doxxers. Companies and businesses that profit from anti-establishment ideas will also be targeted. The end result is that the free dissemination of ideas is not restricted by a legal concept, but by mass media and politically motivated groups who profit from the regulation of certain information. 
Let's take a look at an example. Amazon recently came under fire from political groups for selling books on WW2 Revisionism. The media followed their usual plan of lambast and denigrate, and the company officially banned over 68 books from being sold on its platform...and counting. 
Well, what are those books? Here is a running list for you. Should you be one of the people who is curious enough to look at what our corporate media overlords have forbidden from our sight, then this will be enlightening for you. Yet, it may also pull at some heartstrings, because if you are American you were taught that your country is the freest, and this proves that it is not. We are only told that we are the freest, but in effect America is largely under censorship.
