Jesse Jackson made an appearance at the highway 1806 road block setup by protesters over the weekend. Jackson also gave a speech that compared the natives struggle to the citizens of flint Michigan with their water crisis. He also bought up the natives struggle with the US government seizing their lands in the past.

>“They have lost land for settlers to farm, more land for gold in the Black Hills, and then again even more land for the dam that was built for hydropower. When will the taking stop?”

He also promised to bring reinforcements back to the Camp in North Dakota once the elections were over.

Actor Mark Ruffalo also spoke about the actions of law enforcement.

>“They are very antagonistic to people trying to save their water, they’re made out to be criminals. But each time they hit us, they lose. The more quiet and serene we are in the depth of that violence, the faster we win,” he said. "That’s where our strength is: We’re right and they know we’re right. It’s scary. I’m scared, but when we come together our fear drops."
