Almost daily I see people talking about cryptocurrency going mainstream and how everyone will be using it in a couple of years, but the truth is, we are not even close. But that is a good thing.

It dawned on me that we are a long way away from crypto being mainstream when discussing crypto with my wife. I was excited about how some investments are doing, specifically Lightcoin,  and I gave my wife a brief breakdown of our current holdings. She said something that set me back for a second...

"Why don't I hear anyone talking about it or posting on Facebook about Bitcoin, Steemit, STEEM and stuff?"

It was a great question. She is right. None of our friends, talk about it. I know a handful of people on Facebook that could even name a coin that isn't Bitcoin. I know tons of business owners, and most of them are too confused by the blockchain to even attempt to understand. They even get frustrated when I start talking about it.

<b>Cryptocurrency is not mainstream and it isn't even close. </b>

After thinking about it, I asked my wife... "How many ambitious people do we know? People that really strive to learn and better themselves daily?"

She replied with brutal honesty and said, "None". (And you wonder why I spend so much time online.)

The people that I do know that follow crypto are ambitious. Most are college or business associates that live around the U.S. and Europe. They study and want to get ahead.They all see crypto as the future. Even less know about Steemit, but I tell them the secret. lol

The smartest people in our society, the friends that I look up to, are the ones that are getting into crypto. If nothing else I am ambitious, and I found crypto. I hold Ethereum, LightCoin, Ripple, and a few others. I also watch the value of STEEM very close obviously. I follow the markets and have almost abandoned following the stock market. 

My wife reminded me how far we have to go until crypto is mainstream. We have a long way to go, but not really that far. Look at iPhones. They were introduced less than 10 years ago and now everyone has a smart phone. It will happen, and it won't take 10 years, but we're not there yet. 

The good thing is, it is still so early that we all are way ahead of the curve. It is exciting actually.
