**_The only constant in life is change. - Heraclitus_**

_We evolve daily; each moment a choice between growth and decay. We change, starting with our perspective, as the mind is the real drive when it comes to interpretation of life and those we encounter._

_When we go out of our way to meet new people, and to interact, there's this version of perfection that we present to the universe. The same version we hope that they will mirror, a flawless vision._

_We tend to flag down every clue they present us, clues to their true self. All the while holding on to a fragment of perception that we can't let go._

_And once the honeymoon phase is over, and life kicks in, and we see them as they are, we point fingers, claiming that they have changed, while all along, our perception is the only thing that has drifted to light._

**_But away from perception, sometimes, circumstances also make us change. This became clear in my own relationship._**

_I remember when he said, "You have changed." I couldn't help but wonder, wasn't I supposed to change? I mean, this is the person I had intended to spend my entire life with. A person I had carried a perfect image of in my mind until I saw the deepest shade of red; his truest form._

_Of course, I was bound to change. How else would I outgrow the pain, the arrogance brought by ignorance, dispel disillusionment, see things as they are not as I want them to be?_

_Yet he pointed the same finger I had once pointed at him, for being himself. But this time, I was accused of change. What he didn’t see was that my growth wasn’t just circumstantial, it was born from a shift in perception. Seeing him clearly, without the lens of who I wanted him to be, had forced me to confront truths I had long avoided._

_That clarity had sparked the change; a painful, necessary evolution that brought independence and awakened parts of me I hadn’t known were suppressed._

_And who knows, had I swallowed the pill of reality the sooner I met him, I would have understood where he was coming from._

_Change is inevitable. And it has taught me to dispel my perception of people by letting go of the version of who I want them to be. I have come to understand that it is okay to give people the benefit of the doubt, but to be conscious of their patterns, for in our patterns lies our truest selves._
