As you can see from the catchy title this thing has been going on for a while now.... . It was never meant to last this long, as I honestly thought I would have no trouble in exchanging this £2 silver Britannia for its actual face value.

This whole experiment came about from something I said in a piece in one of @goldmatters very generous giveaways.

"ever tried going to your local supermarket and at the till offering to pay with silver??? You'd be laughed out the store..."

Well this is what I've been doing and today I tried once more to buy some everyday, random objects with my silver Britannia. 

Today I went on a little adventure to my local **poundland** store in the hope they would take my shiny as payment.

The name of the store is kind of self-explanatory and I thought I'd have no problems finding some junk to buy. Now most of the store is full of, ummmm..... Shall we say "junk" but I will give it to them they did have a half tidy gardening section. Nothing special but the choice of bulbs, fertilisers, seeds and nick-nacks were admirable.

I dont know if I've told you guys before but I am a keen gardener and during the summer months my small allotment plot, at the bottom of the garden can semi-sustain a small family or 3. I usually have a few varieties of main-crop potatoes on the go, but rarely plant earlies as the Welsh climate(expect West Wales, Pembrokeshire) is usually too cold/wet this early in the season.

So I picked up 2 different types to try, I'll "knock-up" a cold frame this weekend and get a few of the seed potatoes in and see what happens. I picked up a totally unknown variety(to me)  called *Sharps Express* and one that I had heard of *Red Duke of York*.

OK, so back to the important stuff....... Did the fine, young man behind the counter take my £2, silver Britannia as payment???

Go on, I'll wait a few seconds more. Well? What you recon?

Of course he didn't. He had NO CLUE what so ever.... We really need to start educating our younger generations on what "real" money is. I don't know if he thought it was monopoly money or something I had just melted this morning, but he passed it back like I had handed him a steaming piece of shit!!

Im really am starting to worry about the state the world is in. Who would have guess this tiny little experiment would allow me to see just how brainwashed the sheeple are but I suppose on a better note, I still have my coin and it looks like its heading for the charity shop donation box.
