There were 18 of them. A secret society. All men. They had controlled governments and banks. They did it all from the shadows through the years. And they only met when it was absolutely necessary. And today, it was absolutely necessary.

"You told us it wouldn't work," one of the men said, "when bitcoin started, you said it was a fad, that no one would want it."

"Well my calculations were off."

"Off? We are never off."

"It has hit $3,000 and companies are starting to accept them. We need to do something."

There was grumbling from the 18. One of the men lifted their hands to silence the others.

"Bickering will get us nowhere, we have to do something fast."

"A crash... we can crash the price and then buy it cheap."

"And how would we do that?"

"A bubble, we will spread a rumour that it is a bubble. And when the news starts to spread and everyone is saying it, the price will go to nothing. Then we buy a large piece of it and control the market."

"It will never work... there were two dips this month alone."

"What choice do we have?"

This was there last option. They spread the rumour. The message was everywhere. They watched the market and waited.
