Earn Steem and hold as much of it as you can.

Well, actually do what works for you, but that is what I am going to do.

Money earns money and Steem earns Steem.

Recently a talented Steemian was angry about his earnings. He didn't feel his "high-quality" posts were earning enough. I agree that this Steemian has talent and was posting high quality content. We also started on the platform at the same time. He's earned more than I have, but didn't have a slider. I get it - life is expensive, tough things happen. Although I like and respect this user, I have no interest in delegating Steem Power so that he could curate with it. Want to have influence? Hold Steem Power.

If you can hold your Steem you will earn more. It pays off in curation rewards and in the times you self upvote, and yes, I put the first vote on all of my posts, I do about 1 per day. If I had a small business I would also "Pay Myself First". I don't upvote my own comments much anymore, but I did when my account was tiny and I am not sorry. I encourage this behavior in young accounts. It is hard to get attention, so help yourself grow. This is a sink or swim economy.

As your account grows so does your influence, your stake, your options and your ability to help others grow. The more you help yourself the more you have to give. If you give more than you receive, eventually you will have nothing left to give.

At this point I am focusing on holders that are serious about the platform and who are holding. These are the people who I want to talk to, interact with and support with my votes. I don't care whether or not you use voting bots, self-upvoting, renting or delegating your SP. I have received notice from some that because I buy votes, I will not receive theirs. Okay, I can live with that and I respect the concept of supporting what you want to see more of.

For those of you who are nearly religious about content quality... I think content is part of the platform, my view of social media is casual posting and getting to know people and engaging. True, you make long, beautiful posts with perfect punctuation and nice formatting. I don't mind those things, but they are not enough to hold my interest. Those things alone do not create a large vibrant community, so I will not hold it against you, I don't hold the same level of regard for these things as you do. It is okay if we have different ideas on how the platform should develop. But, you might even be hindering our growth with over zealous expectations on content, and intimidating new users. It's just a perspective.

Earn as much Steem as you can and HOLD it.
