Today is February 1, 2018

and towards the end of December 2017, I decided to go vegan!

It's been a little over a month so I decided to post an update.

### My diet before going vegan
Prior to this, I was already 2/3 vegetarian (meaning I ate two vegetarian meals, and one standard meal with meat). The idea was I'd make a deliberate, slow transition into veganism over time so that I'd go into it with more research under my belt. I've always been aware of vegans who jump into veganism and get **wrecked** on a poor vegan diet. So, to avoid that, I took my time researching the subject. In any case, by the end of 2017, I felt I had everything I needed to move forward.

### A couple noticeable differences so far

* **Slightly more energy**. Since I was already in good, general health before going vegan, it makes sense that the contrast wasn't so stark. But still, it **is** noticeable, and thats pretty cool.

* **A slight reduction in acne.** This was a pleasant surprise, as I was not expecting that. Now... when it comes to acne, I'm **not** an extreme case... but it is such that I **have** to medication (like Clearsil) every day to keep it in check. After going vegan, it seems I need a little less medication. I **did** try not using any acne medication for a week and that did **not** go well, so I still need to use it. Still, I'm relieved that I can get away with using less. If I had to go with a number, I'd go with a 10% decrease in facial acne. So *not much,* but definitely a nice, unexpected bonus.

* I have this **sudden urge to tell everyone I'm vegan**... (*Ha, just kidding!*)

So, so far so good!

I'm amused and intrigued.

It has only been a month, but let's see where this goes!

### Book Recommendation:
I highly recommend the book, ["How To Not Die" by Dr. Gregor, M.D.](http://amzn.to/2DUbsWy) (*Disclosure: This link is an amazon affiliate link. If you make a purchase, I will receive a small commission. I do my best to use affiliate links only on products I like and use*). Inside, Dr. Gregor showers you with research backed information on the benefits of being on a plant based diet, as well as the risks of not being on one! Trust me, it's really good.
