There has to be a better way to live than this. That was the thought I held on to for years and that desire for better is what pushed me down a path towards decentralized systems. Here is... ## My Journey This path didn't happen overnight. At first it was the small comments growing up, comments like: - "Doctors make money off of you being sick." - "Another meeting?! This is taking me away from the classroom and actually preparing for the students." - "You can teach your child to read even before they can speak." As I became an adult working in the school system, I noticed things from a different angle. More kids in classrooms with one teacher, more focus on compliance than creativity, and people feeling trapped by their jobs. At first I just pushed through. This is the way life works, no time to think of a different way of doing things. That is, until I became pregnant with my first child. I had a desire to have a certain kind of life with my child— and that kind of life did not involve the system we were under. I knew I wanted to homeschool and my partner supported this decision. We wanted to reclaim our power and give our daughter the freedom to choose how she wants to learn. This decision was a starting point. A tipping scale that led me to starting a compost, learning about gardening and how to be more self-sufficient. After a few years, I learned about cryptocurrency and the Hive.blog- a way to share my journey and build something sustainable outside the traditional system. This is the beginning of my journey. I may not know all the steps but I know one thing for sure: I no longer want to rely on systems. Systems are like machines...they are created to just go. No self adjustments. No evaluation. It's impartial to your personal feelings and concerns. (So then can you blame the people who operate in that system? They are the gears in that machine....they just go.) I prefer to build my own path and operate as the creative force that I am. Which is exactly what... ## Decentralization means to me. It means personal control and responsibility to myself and the things I steward over. It means I am no longer asking for permission to live my life, I simply live it. It means education on my terms. I can teach my own daughter and nurture her curiosity instead of using a curriculum. I can involve creative play and field trips. And I can even teach myself a new skill. It means true financial independence. Where I earn through creating value and not just employment. And I can "work" when I want to work and operate on my own terms. I build my own forms of wealth and store it how and where I want. I can even use my money how I please without some entity watching over me. It means self-sufficiency in food and resources. Therefore, I have a way of getting my own food and resources without relying on big corporations like Walmart or Kroger. It means that if stores stop operating or the government shuts down, my life doesn't stop. Ultimately, it is a mindset shift. A shift because freedom isn't given ( like when people say "I have my rights.") rather it's built, one decision at a time. Brick by brick Which is exactly... ## Why I'm here. I want to share my personal journey towards decentralization. Share the bricks I am laying down and the experiments I am taking on. I want to document my journey for others and build connections to learn from others. I believe Hive.blog can provide that connection by getting me in touch with more like-minded people. I'm not here to present a "perfect life". I'm here to share the raw process—the questions, the setbacks, the small wins, and the experiments that make up real transformation. From homeschooling my daughter and growing food to learning about crypto and alternative finance, this is a journey of reclaiming my power one step at a time. Hive feels like the right place to share this because it's not built on likes and trends. It's built on value, intention, and contribution. It rewards people for showing up consistently and being real—and that’s exactly what I plan to do. My current goals are simple: To earn my first $500 on Hive through storytelling and consistency. To build a digital garden of ideas others can learn from—especially other moms, homeschoolers, fitness-lovers and freedom-seekers. To find people I can learn from, collaborate with, or simply be inspired by. And to treat this space like a creative home base—a place to build something that will grow alongside my real life. ## What about you? - How did you get into decentralization and what changes have you made so far? - Are you documenting your journey? If so, where? Is there anyone you would suggest a newbie to follow? - If you had no limitations, what kind of life would you build from scratch?
