After 25th year of age, the word Daw instead of Ma stands before the middle aged women's names, and the word Ko instead of Maung stands before the middle-aged men's names. Since then, Daw has stood before a woman's name for life. But, U stands before an aged man's name, instead of the earlier word Ko.
