Paradox of the rules. How we restraint ourselves.
"The Revolution devours its children," said Jacques Mallet du Pan during the times of French Revolution. Let's look a little deeper into this matter. I want to ask the question:

>Can the rules devour its creator?

The paradox of the rules

In my opinion, there is no stronger force in the universe than rules. It is such a powerful and unique phenomenon that it instantly becomes stronger than the creator. Rules are the chains, which mesh everyone who comes near them.

When I was a kid, I created a simple game with my friends. It was our own piece of work and we were proud of it. However, as soon as we started playing that game, we had to follow all the rules. We actually lost all of our power and became completely influenced by the game. All of us got exposed to the rules... which we created with our own free will.

Gravity, for instance. There were times when it did not exist. However, someone (God, nature, evolution, etc.) just said "Screw it, let's make some gravity," and so gravity was born. Apples started falling from the trees and the creator could no longer float in the air. He set himself a limit.

Also, a guy who created "eye for an eye" rule and put his enemy's eyes out, is now walking in the streets completely blind. Poor bastard has punished himself. Silly.

So why the hell do we need rules? That, I don't know. However, I know that when we let the rules out to the world, we are making ourselves vulnerable. Remember, the creator of rules also has to follow them, because rules don't care about authorities. They only care that things would be done just the way it should be done. How strange is that?

I believe that universe was created by something. It had to be. It means that the creator was omnipotent at one point and had all the power of decisions in his hands. How did the creator use his power? He set some rules. He destroyed his own omnipotence. That is the power of rules. They make everyone obey.

It kind of blows my mind how something, created out of thin air can make that thin air to commit and be punished for disobeying.

Rules, however, can not be punished by anyone. It is the highest level of existence, which is even stronger than omnipotence. It is really paradoxical that the ones with the most power are usually responsible for creating the rules, which restraints their dominance.

Isn't that ironic?

When we create something more powerful than we are, then "The Revolution devours its children."

So be careful while playing with the rules. You never know whenever they will pat you... or bite you.
