I woke up a lot earlier then I expected and in light of the situation I thought it would best to get a head start on today's work. The air was cool and damp. It reminded me of home, another continent far from where I am now. It's been so long, I don't even think I can remember the way. Perhaps one day I'll return. For now more important matters needed my attention. I decided to go for a quick walk before addressing the chores ahead of me.

There's something refreshing about being out by the water. I feel as if this is my center, I walked towards the shoreline, and in doing so felt much better about where I decided to stay. The sun was rising somewhere beyond the mountain line. "I can't wait to get out there!" I thought to myself in those brief moments of solitude.

The sound of crickets and other wildlife could be heard beaming in and out of all the dense foliage around me. It was the most relaxing moment I've had so far since my arrival in the isles. I sat down and pressed my back into the earths soil, it was just as cool as the air around me and so was very soothing.

The birds began to sing their songs as the sun continued to rise above the mountains. "Stay awake!" I whispered almost rolling over, about to fall asleep again. When suddenly I heard a soft noise growing behind me. Curious, and uncertain what to expect I picked myself up and followed the path towards the noise.

It became clearer as I drew in close to the faint noise that I wasn't alone. Who could it be, I wondered, now eager to meet the unacquainted person I was approaching. She was nicely dressed in a fine red cloak with silky gold lining. Her hat was also the same shade of color but didn't feature the gold lining like the cloak. Instead it has some sort of white cotton. Maybe it was sheep's fur. It seemed soft and fluffy though, not something I would enjoy wearing as it might be cause uncomfortable itching.

"What is your name?" She asked me with a smile.

"Xhodan, I'm you're new neighbor!" I replied awkwardly not knowing what to expect.

"I'm Ginette, it's nice meeting you Xhodan." She smiled back, it probably made me blush a little, something I hope she wouldn't notice. Nevertheless her presence was warm and very welcoming. A nice note to start off the early morning on!

After exchanging pleasantries with Ginette it was best that I started to get back to my camp, so not to burn any more daylight then I already have. I began my walk back.

It was mid morning when I arrived back to camp and I could already feel the pressure of the tasks ahead of me. Ginette was also on my mind. What a brilliant young woman I thought. I could close my eyes in that moment and picture it all over again. It was like I had been struck by a troll club! "Magranon - HELP me!" I cried out in a non-serious way. The last thing I need to worry about right now are the pleasantries that would accompany just spending an entire day with her. "NO!" I have too much responsibility to take care of before the winter and so I began my day.

There was digging that needed to be done before I could lay more fence plans down around the edges of my garden. So far it was all going according to plan. I'll need to think about upgrading my tools once I've accomplished the garden and then the house. I'm not sure if the ones I'm currently using will last me through the winter.

Aside from digging I'll also need to prepare more planks and shafts to finish the rest of the fence. It should be done for too long. Then I'll have time to make preparations for the house! "Oh.." but of course, I almost forgot. I'll also need seeds to sow the field with. Can't go all winter without any food supplies.

Fortunately I did travel with some seeds, one of which I have is cotton. The cotton in case I need to bandage any wounds that I might incur while working, or worse, defending myself against wild beasts. This area seems pretty quiet however and I shouldn't have to worry too much. Still it's better to stay prepared then not.

Speaking of quiet, it feels too quiet and that unsettles me. While putting up more of the fence I couldn't help but look behind my back every now and then. It was a rather windy day and you could hear it howling. I think the wolf attack the other day has made me uneasy.

Another task which needed to be addressed were the trees just directly behind the tent. I already spent a great deal of time chopping some down. Eventually I would need to chop them all down. They're not particularly important to me as most of them are over aged apple trees. Not likely to yield any fruit for the rest of their lifespan. It was definitely a shame as I loved apples.

After finishing the remaining digging and hammering of fence posts I switched over, headed towards the trees needing to be chopped. I'll need to clear more area if I'm to build a suitable home here.

If there's one thing that can work up a good sweat, its definitely chopping down trees. There was way more then I first anticipated and in so wouldn't be able to completely finish. This was okay though as I had other plans I wanted to get to before the day ends.

There was no particular order in which I was chopping these trees down either. As soon as one fell I didn't hesitate to head towards the next. I was starting to make a mess beneath me. More work I suppose, will have to address at a later date.

I continued to chop trees as they fell one after another. Well past noon I could definitely feel the pull on my stomach. I was hungry. All this hard work was making me feel famished. I definitely needed to get a good meal in me, but I opted to continue. Not interested in wasting any time, I needed to get as much work done as possible.

I did manage to find some pine trees while chopping the woods down. A relief it was as I needed the wood to create more planks and shafts to finish the construction of the fenced area. One thing to note for the future. I should work on stockpiling resources. Right now I'm sort of just doing things as they come and gathering materials as needed. This isn't particularly the most efficient way of doing things. However it will have to do for now.

While finishing up the trees it came across to me that I hadn't heard from Maiya all day. She is my closest neighbor afteral, and it was odd not hearing from her at least once. She usually makes it a priority to do early morning greetings before starting off her day. I had to investigate.

Maiya lives north of Weed Control which is north of my camp. I hurried toward her place, desperate and hungry. I could smell the aroma of spiced pumpkin soup and chicken fillet coming from her vicinity.

Maiya is a gardener. In fact she just so happens to be very renowned in these parts of the land it so seems. It doesn't surprise me, the pathways to her place are very well kept, beautiful with lavender hedges and all kinds of exotic flowers.

There are a lot of bees too, in my opinion too much for my liking. I guess it does provide more opportunity for anyone brave enough to tango with their nests. Those things are quite nasty!

I closed in towards Maiya's place. To be honest I haven't seen where she lived until now. I was shocked at the site of her house!

<hr width="75">

The path that leads up to big estate reads in gold platinum characters. Maiya's Mansion, and a mansion indeed it was. I would be lying if I didn't say I wasn't slightly jealous. I was, but knew that some day I could also achieve the same. I just need to continue to work hard and some day I can share in the same luxury.

Unfortunately my trip Maiya's was in vein as she was already gone. I knocked on her door multiple times before noticing a letter on the door explaining briefly that she would be absent from the homestead for a few days. It would seem she was headed towards Xanadu. Distant land far from here in the isles. "How exciting!" I thought to myself wondering what might have taken her there.

The food which I smelt earlier was coming from inside. I poked my head towards her window to see if I could identify if it were coming form within. It was. Slightly upset and still hungry I made my way back home...

It grew increasingly cold as I headed home. Again the the sun now setting in the distance, I ate some left over rations which I was keeping in my sack. It wasn't very appetizing and I could still smell the wonderful food over at Maiya's. I was running low on food and soon would need to remedy the situation. As the day came to and end, I slunked back into my tent, falling fast asleep.
