0.000 HBDA Rare Drybone Megalodon card from a Rare Draw, and my current opinion about the Splinterlands card game (2025.06.04)
I checked the Splinterlands card game again. Today I [purchased](https://hiveblocks.com/tx/51a754ac14722053a9a31b8dfc604be2ef57b444) a Rare Draw for 750 Glint, and there was a Drybone Megalodon (Chimeric Beast) card in it. This card have the Flank ability. When in the first position, the unit in the second position gains Reach. Currently there are 53 374 cards in circulation from this card, and only 160 cards from them are Unbound. Currently I have two cards from this card, and the last time I played the other card was six months ago. Nowadays I rarely play the whole Splinterlands game. Not only this card. More than five years ago (in/around 2019) Splinterlands (Steem Monsters) was one of my favorite games. Since then it changed a lot, and I played Splinterlands less and less in the previous few years. By the way, currently the estimated value of this card is $0.41 USD, but it does not really matter, because this card is a Soulbound card, and it is sellable only after unbind, which costs money, Dark Energy Crystals (DEC), and this is like having to buy a reward card. And even twice. Because I already bought it with Glint, which I earned in the game by playing. Dark Energy Crystals (DEC) nowadays are different. Earlier it was possible to earn it by playing, but nowadays players have to buy it. So nowadays it is needed either to spend cryptocurrency or fiat money to buy cryptocurrency (actually spending, paying money) to actually own (be able to delegate, sell, transfer) these reward cards. And honestly, the Souldbound cards are one of the worst updates in Splinterlands. Years ago the Splinterlands players had true ownership over all of their cards. Splinterlands players could sell, transfer, delegate any of their cards. And the true card ownership was the main point, the main advantage of Splinterlands. The true card ownership made Splinterlands revolutionary, and the developers ruined this aspect by introducing the Soulbound cards. But at least the Draws are giving what they write. A Rare Draw gives a Rare card. Some cards have more than a million cards in circulation, and compared to that, a card with around 50 000 cards in circulation is indeed Rare. Of course I will continue to check Splinterlands from time to time to see in-game changes. If you also play Splinterlands, then good luck and have fun.
