Today I learned that it was possible to predict how a Polish man would vote according to the borders of imperial Germany in 1918.

Until 1918 Poland was divided between the Kaiser's Germany and the Tsar's Russia. This division is still felt in Polish politics - areas under the Tsar tend to be more right wing, and those under the Kaiser tend to be more leftist.
