The Kindness Debt: When Being Nice Starts to Feel Like a Burden
Have you ever experience feeling tired of being the nice one all the time?
Like, no matter how much you do for people, like even if you lies down for people to walk on you they will still complain you are not flat enough, it’s never enough, humans are insatiable. And when you finally stop doing, suddenly you’re the bad guy. It’s crazy how people remember the one time you said no, but forget the hundred times you said yes.

I’ve always tried to be kind. Because am always delightful in helping others and It’s how I was raised to help, to care, to listen. But know that kindness starts to feel heavy, burden and like a debt you didn’t sign up for. You give, and give, and give… until there’s nothing left, and somehow you still feel guilty for keeping a little bit of yourself.

It’s strange how kindness can turn into something painful.
You start to realize that some people don’t love your kindness, they envy you, they just love what they can get from it. And when you finally pull back, they look at you and say you’ve changed. But truth is, you just got tired.

I remember one time I helped someone who always came to me for advice, support, everything. I was always there and try to do what I can but until one day I wasn’t. Not because I didn’t care, but because I was empty, I had no capacity for it at such moment. That silence from me felt like betrayal to them, but to me it was survival.

Being kind shouldn’t feel like carrying the world like a burden on your shoulders. AND
It shouldn’t mean putting yourself last every single time.

Sometimes you have to remind yourself that kindness without boundaries turns into self-neglect. Saying no doesn’t make you heartless, it just means you finally learned to protect your peace. And it gives strength to what you can and cannot.

So yeah… be kind, but don’t lose yourself in the process.
You don’t owe everyone your energy. And you can't be perfect, you have your flaws and shortcomings. Some people will only take what you give until you’re left with nothing but tired smiles.

Have you ever felt that before? That moment when your kindness starts to feel like a weight you can’t carry anymore?
