*An edelweiss flower given to someone promises your eternal love.*

We were approaching one of #Bulgaria's scary mountain peaks, Koncheto, a.k.a. "the Little Horse", which is well-known for a high death toll among hikers. Metal chains lead to a shallow ridge barely allowing a person to walk along it. A steep kilometer-long fall is on either side of it, one misstep - and you are gone. It was at that time that one of the hikers started waving his hand at me, inviting to approach.

He showed me a tiny flower hidden among the surrounding white rocks. An edelweiss is truly a rare sight, this flower can only be found in remote mountain regions. Its fluffy body protects it from the harsh high-altitude conditions - it survives the cold, drought and UV-light.

Some countries in Europe placed it under protection, so you should not collect the flowers and perhaps find another way to show your eternal love to someone ;)
