Beatrice walked through the gardens so delicately prepared by the palace horticulturalists. The colours burst in the midday spring sunshine as a cool breeze rolled through, making the flowers sway gently. It was time to prepare for lunch with her newest suitor, Earl Gregor McKinnon, cousin of the head of the McKinnon family. He was a snot nosed brat, some ten years her junior. She was appalled that her father had even considered setting up their meeting, as the boy had barely just become an adult. Beatrice was far more concerned with the pursuit of her ideals; stopping the spread of injustice through the nearby North District, lovingly named ‘The Devil’s Courtyard’ by locals. She sought to make use of her intensive study into the art of swordplay, as well as the shade of nobility masking her identity when roaming plain clothed through the streets. This renewed ambition by her father to marry her off seemed the reverse of what he had taught her and espoused in her youth. ‘Love is precious, and courtship sacred,’ he had once told her. His own meeting with her mother was through happenstance, not prearrangement, and he had once wanted the same for her. Beatrice looked back to the castle, shaking her head. She ducked behind a statue of her late uncle and pulled up the hood on her shawl. Moving a rock nearby, she unveiled a hidden dagger left for situations like these. She glanced over to the two on-duty guards, both barely paying any attention to her. Too easy, she thought to herself as she dashed to the hedges surrounding the gardens, crawling through an oft used passageway towards the servants’ quarters. --- Today's prompt: **reverse** [Image Source](https://pixabay.com/photos/garden-boxwood-geometric-hedge-4783579/) If you'd like to participate too, the contest can be found here: https://ecency.com/hive-161155/@mariannewest/day-1572-5-minute-freewrite-wednesday-prompt-reverse
