Militant organization Bagong Alyansang Makabayan (Bayan) will hold protest actions on Monday to address the true state of the Philippines since President Rodrigo Duterte's last State of the Nation Address (SONA). Bayan Muna General Secretary General Renato Reyes said in an interview with Ivan Mayrina on Unang Balita Monday that Duterte failed to fulfill a number of promises he made since his first SONA in 2016. The militant group will call on Duterte to cease the extension of martial law in Mindanao and to pursue peace talks to avoid "all out war" in the conflict-stricken region. Bayan Muna will also bring up contractualization, land reform, free education, public housing, anti-foreign dealings, and human rights, which Reyes maintains were not given importance under this government. The group will hold their protest at the IBP Road near Batasang Pambansa in accordance with their "gentleman's agreement" with Quezon City Police District (QCPD) chief Guillermo Eleazar on the range of their protest actions. Asahan natin magiging maingay, makulay at militante 'yung magiging pagkilos ngayong hapon," Reyes said.
