From the Ashes (Original Work)
Quite simply, these are the fledglings signs of life that have emerged over 900 years after a volcanic eruption. In the year 1085, a massive eruption shook this mid-northern area of Arizona and blanketed this area in lava. This lava is now igneous rock that is a deep black in color.

What struck me and drove me to take this photo was the stark contrast between the vibrant colors of the trees and the desolate black landscape. You can clearly see where the lava flowed and ended all life in its path. It was a reminder to me of the cyclical nature of all things.
