 Greetings Hive Gardeners! <div class="text-justify"> There are significant changes in my life; one is I started a new vegetable garden. If you happen to see my previous gardening posts you may notice that the garden is inside an area that is enclosed with concrete walls. That old location is very safe for wandering animals the problem is that it always has water when the rice farming season and rainy season come. It is also home to the ducks of one of my sisters. </div><br> <div class="text-justify"> Instead of documenting the vegetable garden when the vegetables are all flowering and producing fruits, I decided to take photos whenever I am able to (from the start until flowering and fruit-bearing). I started taking photos on June 8, 2023, when my vegetables were grown significantly and when I finally have to time to build a trellis to which they are going to climb (String Beans and Bottle Gourd are vigorous climbers). In the photo below, the Okra and the Strings Beans in the poles can be seen. </div> # June 8, 2023 - Introduction  <div class="text-justify"> Below is a photo of the four posts of the trellis that I built. The bamboo that I used here came from one of my projects that significantly changes my life. These bamboo poles should have been used in making house walls (a traditional material to make house walls in our town for hundreds of years). </div> # June 8, 2023 - Erecting Posts  <div class="text-justify"> After I erected the four bamboo poles I noticed that the distance at the center is too far so I decided to add two more poles after adding two more poles it looks better than the previous four poles (check the photo below). If you notice in the background those sections filled with water are where we are planting rice. </div> # June 8, 2023 - Adding Posts  <div class="text-justify"> The next day after I erected the six bamboo poles (yesterday) I added the bamboo that will act as a ceiling to where the string beans and bottle gourd will climb (photo below). Do you notice the purple flowers in the foreground? Those are wild flowering plants, they are quite pleasing to the eyes when their flowers bloom. </div> # June 9, 2023 - Building the Ceiling  <div class="text-justify"> After I made the ceiling I made three bamboo stairs which are also where my three bottle gourds will climb all the way to the ceiling of the trellis (see photo below). If I remember right my vegetables are about two weeks old. </div> # June 9, 2023 - Building Three Stairs  <div class="text-justify"> After I finished the trellis I took some close-up photos of my vegetables. Below is my Okra. I noticed that Okra is also suitable during the rainy season as well as in the summer. I thought Okra only fit in the summer but from what I am seeing in my Okras they are quite adapting to the rainy weather. </div> # June 9, 2023 - A Close-Up of My Okra  <div class="text-justify"> And below is my bottle gourd. Bottle gourds are vigorous climbers. I planted three bottle gourds. Bottle Gourd is a vigorous climber so I made a bamboo stair for it to climb. Same as the Okra, I thought Bottle Gourd is only suitable during the summer season but I noticed they are also quite adapting to the rainy season. </div> # June 9, 2023 - A Close-Up of My Bottle Gourd  <div class="text-justify"> Another vegetable that is also a vigorous climber is String Beans (photo below). Not like the Bottle Gourd and Okra, I know that String Beans are a vegetable that can be planted during rainy and summer seasons but as I have seen in my childhood I know that String Beans are very suitable during the rainy season and lots of my relatives are also planting String Beans during the rainy season. </div> # June 9, 2023 - A Close-Up of My String Bean  <div class="text-justify"> And just yesterday, I took another round of photos of my vegetable garden. All my vegetables are now flowering and producing fruits. Below is a Bottle of Gourd fruit that is starting to develop. </div> # June 25, 2023 - A Close-Up of Bottle Gourd Fruit  <div class="text-justify"> And below is one of my String Beans that are ready to be harvested. </div> # June 25, 2023 - A Close-up of My String Bean Fruits  <div class="text-justify"> And below is the Okra. </div> # June 25, 2023 - A CLose-up of my Okra Fruit  <div class="text-justify"> And below is one of our all-time favorite vegetables, it is called "Jute" and it is called "Saluyot" in our local language. </div> # June 25, 2023 - Jute, a Vegetable that Grows Everywhere During Rainy Season  # June 26, 2023 (Today) - I took a photo of my little vegetable garden  <div class="text-justify"> And just today I harvested my first vegetable fruit which I am going to add to today's viand, Pork Sinigang. I harvested String Beans and Okra. They may be few but it is enough for three people when combined and cooked with 500 grams of pork. </div> # June 26, 2023 (Today) - Harvesting String Beans for Pork Sinigang (which I will be cooking for lunch)  # June 26, 2023 (Today) - Harvesting Okra for Pork Sinigang (Which I will be cooking for lunch).  <br> <div class="text-justify"> That is all for now guys, catch you up with the next one.
