Land — one of my favorite topics over the last few months — as many of you know if you’ve been following me!

This week, I want to dive into two key topics:

1. My personal land strategy
2. Some basic (but often misunderstood) concepts around Base PP vs Boosted PP

# <div class=phishy>🛠️ My Journey Since Land 1.75</div>
Before Land 1.75, I only had a few plots and honestly, they weren’t doing much. I’d just harvest them every other day. Nothing special.

But when Land 1.75 dropped, it clicked. Yes, land is still a bit limited in what you can actively do, but it's finally starting to feel real — especially with new resources and production items entering the game.

🔔 Reminder: This is just the beginning. If you haven’t yet, take a peek at the whitepaper and see what’s coming for Land 2.0:

# <div class=phishy>🎯 My 3-Phase Land Plan</div>
Setting goals helps me stay focused and usually leads me to overshoot them (which is a nice bonus 😉). Here's my current strategy:

# <div class=phishy>✅ Phase 1: Acquire 50 Plots</div>

![image.png](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/beaker007/23tbK2GuuoMkxnSqLAR8LSMi4VhXZF8ivGWfxBW9kcfhN4NHheH2LeTXfpjCmZXT1DKdM.png)

Why 50? Because that’s what you need to become a Land Baron!
But beyond that, I aimed for diversity — a good mix of terrain types, rarities, and magical/natural splits. This will give me more flexibility later on.

Sure, some people go all-in on one resource type (nothing wrong with that), but I like a balanced approach. Will it be the best strategy? Time will tell. BTW: still heavy on some wood plots in region 85 🤣

🎉 Status: Achieved!

# <div class=phishy>🔁 Phase 2: Fill Every Plot with Workers</div>
Now that I have the plots, the next bottleneck is DEC and workers.

**Sub-Goals:**
* 🛠️ 1 Worker per Plot – My first milestone. I know some would rather max out a few plots first, but I like to see all my land active.

* 🛠️ 5 Workers per Plot – Eventually, I aim to fully staff each plot. I’ll prioritize Rare and Magical plots first, then the rest.

Note: I’ll have to reshuffle some older plots to align with this plan — not fun, but necessary.

# <div class=phishy>🚀 Phase 3: Optimize with Better Units (Long-Term)</div>
This is a 1+ year plan, no rush here — land is costly.

I’ll aim to replace existing units with better PP (Production Points). Now, some might argue it’s smarter to immediately place high-PP gold cards — and I agree that’s valid. But I prefer to:

* Quickly stake max DEC on each plot (even with regular units)
* Then swap units over time as needed

Yes, it’s less efficient in the short term, but once DEC is maxed, I don’t have to worry about staking anymore. I’ll be free to rotate units however I like.

Is it controversial? Maybe. Efficient? Maybe not. But it works for me.

# <div class=phishy>📊 Let’s Talk PP: Base vs Boosted</div>
I see a lot of confusion around how PP works, especially when people rush to place Gold cards thinking it's always better.

Here's a quick look at Base PP per rarity:

|Rarity	|Reg Max PP|	Gold Max PP	|Reg 1 BCX	|Gold 1 BCX|
| - | - | - | - | - |
|Common | 1,000	|2,000	|2.50	|52.63|
|Rare |1,100	|4,000	|9.57	|181.82|
|Epic |1,250	|6,000	|27.17	|600.00|
|Legendary|1,500 |10,000 |136.36	|2,500.00|

# <div class=phishy>⚠️ Important Notes:</div>
* Gold units have much higher Base PP than regulars.
* But! Higher BASE PP = higher resource (consume) cost as well.
* So when you go full gold units on a plot, the resource cost scales up accordingly.

Many players forget that the cost to produce increases linearly with the Base PP. So unless your plot has significant boosts, you may not gain much efficiency from just stacking gold units.

# <div class=phishy>💡 Example: PeakMonsters Land Calculator</div>
Its outdate according peakmonster but still works:
https://peakmonsters.com/land/calc

Let’s visualize it for a grain plot:

Common plot without any boosts (reminder 50% of the grain is consumed on harvest):
![image.png](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/beaker007/EnyoTzceymZ9zzeZiWTQDznQ15DuyeDETV2YN1SV8xFHH9xTkKLv8tapmVZKsjbYWCV.png)
Max common regular foil: 2.4$ (at the time of writing)
Max common gold foil: 6.8$
2.4/6 = $0.4 per grain
6.8/11 = $0.62 per grain
0.22 differnce
<hr>

Rare plot without any other boosts:
![image.png](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/beaker007/23swgK5NeffkKXcE6ZczfevJvicbnM6vjb4PakFSv7QZmtECWGfHf2e1RiXCZYTiQwWfu.png)
2.4/6.6 = $0.36 per grain
6.8/13.2 = $0.52 per grain
0.16 difference so with terrain boost only, the difference is decreased
<hr>

Max plot with all the boost (and these boosts are expensive as hell)
![image.png](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/beaker007/EnyoTzgzxhC9ATNGoLBF2xfpSDt99BykWoKXTtMadZxrEyKhjhkZuzs7pEnKvS3kUCs.png)
2.4/44 = $0.055 per grain
6.8/88 = $0.077 per grain
0.022 so here you can see that the more boost you can place on a plot the better its to place gold level unit on the plot.

You’ll see that with boosts active (rarity, type, totem, title), your production gets amplified, and the cost/benefit ratio improves. This is where investing in high-PP units starts to make sense.

So like @mori-no-giant always says:

> It’s about the boost!

### <div class=phishy>TL;DR:</div>
The old PeakMonsters land calculator still works, and it gives a decent idea of cost per grain across different setups.

* Without boosts, gold foil units give better grain per dollar—but the difference isn't huge at first.
* With terrain boost, the cost gap shrinks a bit.
* With full boosts (rarity, terrain, title, totem), gold units become way more efficient per grain.

**So what's the move?**
If you're on a budget, start with a few plots and regular foil units—get things running. If you're working with just a handful of plots and want to squeeze max value, go gold and boost them hard.

**Just remember**: putting gold units on aura/research/SPS plots raises costs across the board, so only do that if the plot itself is boosted imho.

Personally, I’m going deep first—regular foils to get every plot online, then go for the shiny stuff later. Some folks go gold (1bcx epics for instance) early to save on DEC staking—valid strategy too!

<code>No single best answer. Depends on your goals, DEC, and plot count. For low-plot setups without boosts: start small, go smart.</code>

# <div class=phishy>🌱 Final Thoughts</div>
So to come down to my own decisions, and for sure this can change over time... go deep with more plots with lower PP cards first. Down side cost me more staked DEC... once that hurdle is done, upgrade upgrade....

You can:

* Go deep on a few boosted plots with gold cards
* Or go wide with more plots filled with commons

Both are valid — it just depends on your strategy and DEC.

I hope this breakdown helped clarify the Base PP vs Boosted PP topic.
Let me know in the comments:

* What’s your plan?
* Are you going wide or deep or ...?
* What do think of my 3-phase strategy, see any flaws?

As always, open to feedback if I got anything wrong too! Let’s keep learning and building together.

I’ll see you on the battlefield! 🧙‍♂️⚔️
