 <center>(1)</center> # The Scoop The Canadian truckers Freedom Convoy that was challenging COVID-19 restrictions and inspired convoys in France, New Zealand and Netherlands is still not past us. A judge (Federal Court Justice Richard Mosley) recently ruled the government of Canada's use of the emergency act to curb the protest was unreasonable and unconstitutional, as expected the Canadian government will appeal the ruling as was stated by the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Chrystia Freeland stating the Canadian government had to push the emergency act in the name of public safety, national security and Canada's economic security. ## My Take Leaving any opinions I have on the COVID-19 restrictions, I have to agree with the ruling of Federal Court Justice Richard Mosley, Canadians have a right to protest ([Canadian charter of right and freedoms section 2(c)](https://www.justice.gc.ca/eng/csj-sjc/rfc-dlc/ccrf-ccdl/check/art2c.html)) sure protest can be disruptive, that is really the idea here. Lots of Canadians are getting frustrated with the Canadian government and feel like they are loosing their freedoms and things like the use of the emergency act to stop a peaceful protest is a prime example.
