#### Fellow Steemians , 
I'm sure a lot of you has already signed up and have been using Steemit to write your posts on a daily basis or even on a weekly basis. The Question which you need to ask yourself , are you participating in making decisions on Steem ? Being one of the fastest growing blockchain around, the Steem network requires you to vote on **Witnesses**.

##### What are **witnesses** ? 

Quoting @lukestokes ( witness #21 )
> Maybe no one told you or you haven't had time to look into it yet, but as a Steemit account holder, you control part of the future success of this platform. Decisions about code changes and economic polices are implemented by witnesses. Your vote determines who gets to be an influential witness and who doesn't.

#### So why we need your WITNESS votes 
Let me break down the statistics for you. 

Steem Power | Total Users | Users which has NOT voted on a single WITNESS | Total % With NO votes
--|--|--|--
0-1000 SP | 458,093 | 441,254 | 96.32%
1001-5000 SP | 2,977 | 1,781 | 59.83%
5001-100,000 SP | 1,331 | 626 | 47.03%
500k and above SP | 38 | 18 | 47.37%

### So out of 462,544 users on STEEM , 96% has not voted on a WITNESS
Here are just few of the reasons which I think why :- 
- New users are not aware of this 
- Users think its not important and could not give a damn
- Its a dummy account  therefore no need to vote ( or a scammer account ) 
- User inactive

### Let me tell you this what happens if you do not vote for a witness
- The Future of Steem is not decided by everyone but only 4% of the population
- Any future direction that Steem goes is NOT decided by YOU because you did not choose to participate in the process.

### OMG ! How can I vote a witness ?
There are a few ways you can vote for a witness. However here are the most common once :- 

##### Option 1
- Head over to http://steemit.com/~witnesses
- The names you see there are the current top 50 witnesses. You can just upvote those who you want to vote for and you are done. However there are more then 50 witnesses and for those outside the top 50 like me @bitrocker2020 ( witness #79 ) you then need to scroll all the way down and do the following.

- Direct vote thru Steemconnect like this
