"I understand it better than Bitcoin" was something a colleague said to me today. I wanted to explore that!

# I Understand It Better Than Bitcoin

When I switched jobs last year I knew I was going to be in for a pretty considerable change. Thankfully it's been thus far an incredibly positive change, being able to work remotely and work for a good company with good people in it. What has been a little tricky at some points though is trying to get up to speed on all of the different things that I'm supposed to do in a day!

One of the things I never was exposed to or needed to do in any of my previous roles was really worry about anything financial in nature. I was more of the worker who did the job, fixed things or worked on some small projects to bring people together.

Now that I'm working on projects exclusively and for a company where money is considerably important, I need to incorporate that into the things I do and learn about in my work. That's fine because I know my field and am getting better at the products I am working with but what I wasn't really looking forward to was the financial side of it all. I've been able to put that stuff off for a while considering I started months ago but this week finally broke that streak lol

One of the major software companies in the world, Oracle, is the vendor that my company as well as countless others across the world use for financial tracking as well as many other software uses. I was working with a colleague of mine to understand what I needed to do in the Oracle program we use for finance stuff. The formulas and calculations just weren't really adding up to me in my head and they could tell I was struggling with it. I usually need some time for something to "click" before I am able to run with it.

What was funny when I was working with them was that at one point they were talking about it is a little complicated to wrap your head around but "I understand this stuff better than Bitcoin!" and I laughed a little bit. I told them I'm the opposite, I understand Bitcoin a lot better than I do this! 

I found it funny that we were joking about something like Bitcoin and I will prod that subject a little bit more with him in the coming weeks to see if he knows much about it and is invested in it at all. I don't want to get too much into the weeds early on with him on it but would love to get his take and see if I can guide him into the crypto space a little bit further! Being a work colleague and not a friend, at least yet, I don't know if I will be introducing him to Hive quite yet, I do appreciate the pseudo-anonymity of the space, particularly when it comes to people at work knowing one of my side hustles.

I wonder if the same comment would have come out of him a year or two ago when Bitcoin was in the news a little bit but not nearly as much as it is now, given how we are being guided in the direction of crypto and CBDC's, as evil as that whole situation can turn out to be. For now, I will appreciate the "normie" throwing around of the Bitcoin name at work!
