Misunderstanding


How would she bear the shame and the storm which was about to happen to her? What would be her fate after seeing the sad side of her guy? Would her fate remain twisted or back to usual?

 Alicia is the only girl with a deep sense of tenderness, meekness, and full of trust. 


I'm Mikel, a young-looking guy whose heart only beats for just one girl. A girl who has a heart of gold, a heart of kind regards, the heart to turn me into loving her and trusting her to my utmost deepest part. 


My parents, being too timid in thinking, always advise me to get a wife. My mum even brought home a village lady just to know if I would love or like her. She brought her after seeing the way I behaved with women. I told my mum, 

> The city is not like the village where you could find yourself a wife at any time. Most people or guys in the village are still living with their parents. They are still dining with their parents whereas, here in the city we live with just who we are. Taking a woman into your house needs a lot of thought and observation. So, I'm presently observing one to be taken as my wife.


It was a stunning response to my mom which kept her in a state of hope.

She replied,

> You have given me hope and I'm going to work with your words. Just bring home your words and don't make me think of doing what I suppose not to do. I'm not going to force you to marry who you are not having in mind. Do whatever you feel is right.


Alicia was very excited as her parents had consented to our being together. She has a sister who somehow looks like her. She is her younger sister and has almost a similar voice. She was also pretty just like Alicia, my beloved. 


The house I stayed in is a large rented apartment and a storey building. I made the downstairs parlor as well as the dining room. The up was my bedroom. Sometimes Alicia would pay me a visit alongside her sister from school. We have been together for some time now and have known our likes and dislikes. Alicia only loves being with her phone as well as her younger sister, Rosa. Anytime she wants to make a call, she always runs out of where I'm leaving me with a question. Although, the love I had for her superseded all things.


After four months of being together, we began to prepare for our wedding as my parents had given a passing mark to our relationship and wedding. The preparation began and all hands were on deck to see to the beautification of the wedding. 


Alicia ordered a wedding gown and her sister being her best maid, ordered her gown. There was a delay in delivering these items which led to different series of calls. 


Rosa has a boyfriend and they both had an argument and a little misunderstanding. 


It was the day of the wedding and everyone had been gathered waiting for the day. Alicia was walking down the stairs discussing with her sister how they are going to go about the wedding and entertainment, and then a call came in which was through Alicia's phone. 

Hello….!!! She replied.


I was busy listening to the conversation as they walked down the stairs. They paused their movement concentrating on the call. 


According to the reply from the receiver's end, it sounds as if there was a fight between the receiver (Alicia in thought) and the caller. Alicia did not know I'm at home. She might have thought I'm out of the house or else she wouldn't have echoed that much to my hearing. 


The conversation continued and I was able to grasp the facts behind their conversation. 


She answered, 

> How can I give you another chance when you are the one who started the fight? You angered me and so you want a reconciliation? Forget it. I can't come back to you. Mike, please, let's talk later, I'm so busy right now.


I was melting and fuming where I was. The couch I was sitting on was just as if it was on the water. I am not the type who would talk too much. Immediate heat emerged from my body and I was sweating profusely just like someone who has been in hard labor while under the AC. 


I have to do something that would make Alicia feel the gravity of what she has done. I had to leave the house without informing anyone and not even my mum. 


It's the night of d-day and everyone has been looking for me trying to call through my phone, I had switched off my phone. They tried to call my best friend, Paul and to their surprise, I did not tell him where I was going. 


This kept them worried. Alicia was crying profusely and bitterly. Her eyes swelled. There was confusion at home and they began to search for me. Some concluded that I had been kidnapped while some were having different thoughts. 


Alicia was shattered and down with tears and shame. 

> I'm the shameless being right now. All my friends and the guest would have been waiting thinking it would still hold. What eyes would people use to look at me?

Alicia's friends and her sister had come around to dress her in her bridal attire. As she was being dressed, her mind was not at peace. She was just thinking of what might have caused Mikel to leave just like that without a word and also switching his phone off as well. 


Paul had known where to find me and came immediately. He saw me and asked why I ran away from my wedding. I was not ready to tell anyone but I had no choice.

> Alicia has been hiding things from me. She has been sneaking while making calls not wanting me to hear her conversation. Now, I overheard her speaking with someone arguing about breaking up with him. I just want to show her that I have authority over her. For now, I don't know what my mum would say.


Paul was laughing profusely. He said, 

> You don't have to run away, instead, you would hear her side of the story. 


Wow…. You are right. 


I got home and everyone was surprised to see me. I decided to call Alicia and asked, why did you do that? What on Earth would make you double date? Does that mean I was not the right man for you? Then why did you agree to marry me? Why did you agree to my proposal in the first place when you know you have not got your first man out of your life? 


Alicia was surprised by all the words spoken by his man, Mikel. While in her bridal attire, with all white dressing, drops of water began to roll down her chicks. She was short of words and confused. 


She answered Mikel,

> I still don't get what you are saying.


I replied to her, trying to raise my voice. I heard the call you were making while descending the staircase. You were talking to your boyfriend just as if you had recently broken up with him just because of your recent marriage with me. 


Alicia replied calmly, "I was not the one talking and the conversation has nothing to do with me. The call only came through my phone and was for my younger sister, Rosa. She recently fought with her guy and he only called to mend things with her. He called through my phone and I handed the phone to her. 


Rosa called John, her boyfriend, to come over to settle things with her elder sister. 


After 30 mins of arguing, it was later settled and they both apologized to each other. 

It was a few minutes before the presentation of the bride and the groom. After all, the wedding was exceptional. 


Mikel's mum was so happy and took back her words as his son had fulfilled his words of taking in the one he loves.
