 # Cruising Palm City I started playing Need For Speed Heat last October and never really got into it enough to progress very far. Then I got busy with a few other games and before I knew it I had my PS5 which further distracted me from NFS. Over the past week I have started playing Heat again and have really been enjoying it. I had played the previous two NFS titles *Need For Speed* and *NFS Payback*, but only completed the reboot NFS. Payback I did play a lot, but only finished the story and never did get 100% on the game. With Heat I have decided to ignore the story all together, I turned off all of the voice acting and in-game music. Leaving me only with the car audio and my own Spotify playlist music playing every time I get to racing around Palm City. It’s honestly the best, it live just driving around and listening to some awesome EDM for a few hours. Palm City is a lot like Miami with some mountainous regions added in. One of the first things I did when I started playing was drive around an unlock 12/13 safehouses. I guess the last safehouse is story related, not too sure yet. I did this so that I could get familiar with the map and more easily fast travel for various missions. It was a wise decision. Just like all other NFS games, you are left with a few choices as your first car, none of which are particularly fast. Luckily they are still pretty cool, especially if you are a car enthusiast like myself. Let’s take a look at my first 3 cars that I purchased in NFS Heat. The first one being my starter car.  - - - <div class="phishy"> # 1. </div>  # 1988 BMW M3 Evolution II I started out with the classic BMW M3. This car was by far the coolest of the options in my opinion. Although it’s not quick, with some modifications it was able to get me through a decent portion of the first part of the game. As you can see I was also able to customize it to make it look pretty awesome. I put a cool silver/black/teal wrap on it and bought all of the body parts to have it looking sharp. I started with some chrome wheels, but ended up changing them to black. I’m torn between which set looks better.      - - - <div class="phishy"> # 2. </div>  # 2017 Infiniti Q60 S I waited quite awhile until I purchased my second car. It was more than a minute that I had my eye on this Infiniti, but hadn’t reached high enough level to buy it. It was a tough choice between this and the Audi S5 once the time finally came, but I opted for the Infiniti since it was a coupe and the only option for the Audi was the Sportback 4-door version. I have seen this Q60 S in real life just once, outside of my local Best Buy just before Christmas. It’s a bad ass car and I remember wondering why they aren’t more popular. I could easily see myself driving this car, it reminds me of a Nissan Z blended with a Lexus IS. As you can see I went for a totally different wrap and set of decals with this car. Since Infiniti is Japanese, I designed with Cherry blossoms and named my license plate after @flowerbaby. I got some really awesome photographs of this ride both posed and in action. I’ve had a lot of fun driving the Infiniti around, but it still wasn’t quite fast enough for me. Much better than the BMW though.         - - - <div class="phishy"> # 3. </div>  # 2017 Porsche 718 Cayman GTS My next purchase was this beautiful Porsche. It was the first Porsche that I unlocked and it was the fastest option at my current level. I haven’t even gotten to drive this one around much yet, besides for the photos I took of it as soon as I finished customizing my new ride. Speaking of personalization, I really did something subtle but unique with this one. I chose a matte black base color with outlines of teal around certain body parts of the car. I also added a glossy black decal over all of the black portions of the car so that it had a bit more going on, yet nothing too crazy. This one reminds me a lot of the movie Tron, so I named it accordingly. The custom “Daltron” license plate combines my name with the word Tron. No affiliation with the shit-coin. I would totally kill to have this car in real life. It’s just so damn sexy, I mean look at it. I can’t wait to get to drive it around more in the game very soon. I can already tell it’s going to be a total joy.      - - - <div class="phishy"> # Earning Bank and Rep </div>  # Night and Day One thing that is totally new in NFS Heat is the fact that you can only do certain things during the day and other things at night only. All races during the daytime earn you bank, which you can use to upgrade your cars and buy new ones. If you want to earn rep, then you have to play at night. Rep is what unlocks new things for you to purchase with your bank, whether it be upgrades, cars, or specific challenges. It’s really cool how easy it is to change from day to night, there is no waiting for the time tick by on its own. You can just pull up your map and with the press of the button your screen flips and you go from day to night or vice versa. You also get to choose whether you want day or night each time you leave a safehouse. During the day the cops won’t ever chase you and you can start stacking bank. It’s wise to spend your money before you go to race at night, because if you get busted by the cops, then you will lose a large portion of your bank. I didn’t realize this at first and watched thousands of dollars be taken from me. I learned my lesson very quickly. You earn rep from beating races at night, but the quickest way to earn a lot of rep in one night is to take down cops during cop chases. This is incredibly risky, the cops are deadly in this game. They can total your car if you’re not careful, so you must drive through gas stations to repair your vehicle. You only get 3 gas station repairs per night though, so you must get to a safehouse and deposit your rep before you get arrested and lose it all. It’s a pretty cool way to add a new level of difficulty to the NFS franchise. You can also unlock gadgets to make getting away from the cops easier, but I don’t have too many of those yet. So I mostly try to just avoid the cops as much as possible. Some races just force you to initiate a chase, so you better be ready.  - - -  # NFS never lets me down When it comes to racing, drifting, and customizing cars, there isn’t a game that does it better than NFS. Since I was a child, I have always loved this franchise. I’m surprised that they still are finding new ways to keep gamers interested. I have yet to play their remake of Hot Pursuit that came out in the past year. I doubt I’ll ever buy that one since there isn’t much customization in it. That’s honestly my favorite part, as you can see by my 3 creative rides. I’m not even halfway through Heat yet and I think it will take me quite awhile to finish. I’ll be juggling it with other games and hopefully one day I’ll complete it. I at least want to get to the point where I start unlocking the fastest cars in the game.
