KFC in Australia has reportedly looked to using cabbage for their menu items because of a lettuce shortage in the region.

Some customers aren't happy about it. 

The floods in Queensland and northern NSW have reportedly impacted the lettuce supply to the point that the KFC fast food chain has had to look to finding other options.

They are working on the issue with suppliers but they did expect the problem to persist for some time, at least for several days by the looks of it and they've apologized for any inconvenience.

The iceberg lettuce supplies has been seeing drastic price increases in stores thanks to the supply chain issues for this product. What is usually one of the cheaper food items on the shelves for lettuce is now one of the most expensive in the produce section.

Hungry Jack’s say that they too have experienced supply chain issues in the region, Subway said they too will be looking to mix lettuce with cabbage because of the problem. Businesses big and small are going to be impacted by this supply chain snag.

Some reports suggest that something like iceberg lettuce in the area is now running upwards of around $12 in Australia, whereas looking for a similar product like that in the US it would cost somewhere between $2-3. 

Lettuce also isn't the only produce seeing higher prices as the flooding has impacted farming greatly.
