Saludos queridos lectores. Hoy les comparto otra experiencia en este espacio de: Hablemos de Autismo.

Diciembre ya terminó, con el se fueron muchas cosas, para finalizar el cierre de año viejo y la celebración del año nuevo con los fuegos artificiales, que si bien vemos campañas en contra y en pro de los amigos del hombre, los perritos. Pero a nos olvidamos de que también a las personas con autismo, les afecta las pirotecnias.

En nuestro caso, no fue algo que notamos al inicio, pues nuestra pequeña hija autista, solo que quejaba o lloraba y ella por lo general si tolera música en volúmenes altos. Pero comenzamos a ver lo inquieta que se ponía, y como es Autista no verbal, nos tocó poner manos a la obra y descubrir si eran las pirotecnias.

>December is over, and with it many things have gone, to end the closing of the old year and the celebration of the new year with fireworks, and although we see campaigns against and in favour of man's friends, the little dogs, we forget that fireworks also affect people with autism. But we forget that people with autism are also affected by pyrotechnics.

>In our case, it was not something we noticed at the beginning, because our little autistic daughter only complained or cried and she usually tolerates loud music. But we began to see how restless she became, and as she is non-verbal autistic, we had to get to work and find out if it was the pyrotechnics.

Desde que nos dimos cuenta que el sonido de los fuegos artificiales le afectaban de una manera no tan severa, realmente es poca pues no está directamente expuesta a ellos. Nuestros fin de año son un tanto diferentes. En lugar de salir y tirar también pirotecnias, cerramos todas las puertas y ventanas en casa, para que el sonido no sea fuerte y esto ayuda a que nuestra pequeña pueda dormir. 

También es importante recalcar que no solo es el sonido de los cohetes y todos estos explosivos, también se suma la bulla de la gente y la música que colocan con alto volumen los vecinos. Esto no le molesta a Amelie, pero si la pone bastante inquieta y eso le quita incluso el sueño. 

Este año por primera vez nuestra hija mayor, Ammy, usó uno de esos fuegos artificiales que lanzan colores y bajó sola con su papá, 1 hora antes de que terminara el año. Este, no suena duro, si se ven los colores y Amelie estaba conmigo en el balcón mientras ellos lo lanzaban y ella se quejaba un poco, estaba medio llorosa. Al terminar eso, entramos y cerramos todo, para que así ella pudiera dormir.

>Since we realised that the sound of the fireworks affected her in a way that was not so severe, it is really not so bad as she is not directly exposed to them. Our New Year's Eve is a bit different. Instead of going out and throwing pyrotechnics as well, we close all the doors and windows at home, so that the sound is not so loud and this helps our little one to sleep.

>It is also important to note that it is not only the sound of the rockets and all these explosives, but also the noise of the people and the loud music played by the neighbours. This doesn't bother Amelie, but it does make her quite restless and it even keeps her awake at night.

>This year for the first time our eldest daughter, Ammy, used one of those colourful fireworks and came down alone with her daddy, 1 hour before the end of the year. This one, it doesn't sound hard, if you can see the colours and Amelie was with me on the balcony while they were throwing it and she was moaning a bit, she was half crying. When that was over, we went inside and closed everything up, so she could sleep.

Ciertamente no vamos a evitar o poder controlar que la humanidad deje de usar fuegos artificiales, pues si no lo dejan de hacer sabiendo que se daña nuestra propia capa de ozono, menos lo dejarán de hacer por los perros que sufren muchísimo y por personas que sufren de autismo, pero con esto trato de explicar mi experiencia y como hacemos en casa, lo cual quizás también pueda ayudar a quienes tengan alguna persona con esta condición o mascotas en casa.

Algo que hablábamos mi esposo y yo en estos días, es que no somos padres comunes, tenemos una hija autista y esto nos hace ser diferentes, pues hacemos cosas adicionales o distintas a otros padres, como por ejemplo seguir rutinas y tener los ojos más puestos en nuestros hijos de lo normal, no ir a cierto sitios y siempre ayudarnos entre todos. Pues son medidas que seguimos y si alguien decide pasar un fin de año con nosotros, le explicaremos para que sepa y decida si estar o no 🤷🏻‍♀️.

Existen niños con autismo que tienen mucha menos tolerancia a los ruidos fuertes o sonidos que nuestra Amelie y no queremos ni imaginar lo que puedan sufrir sus padres ante una crisis provocada por algo que no podemos controlar, es allí cuando nos queda a nosotros como adultos mantener la calma y tratar de hacer que ellos se sientan seguros también. Como siempre digo, cosas que se logran con mucho amor y paciencia.

>Certainly we are not going to avoid or be able to control mankind to stop using fireworks, because if they do not stop doing it knowing that it damages our own ozone layer, less they will stop doing it for the dogs that suffer a lot and for people who suffer from autism, but with this I try to explain my experience and how we do at home, which may also help those who have a person with this condition or pets at home.

>Something that my husband and I were talking about these days, is that we are not ordinary parents, we have an autistic daughter and this makes us different, because we do additional or different things to other parents, such as following routines and having our eyes more on our children than normal, not going to certain places and always helping each other. Well, these are measures that we follow and if someone decides to spend the end of the year with us, we will explain to them so that they know and decide whether to stay or not 🤷🏻.

>There are children with autism who have much less tolerance to loud noises or sounds than our Amelie and we don't even want to imagine what their parents can suffer when faced with a crisis provoked by something we can't control, that's when it's up to us as adults to keep calm and try to make them feel safe too. As I always say, things that are achieved with a lot of love and patience.
