There ended up being some big milestones that would make exploration and crafting higher-tier machines easier. The biggest had to be the rover. The next was a biolab that had some advanced materials I was only able to acquire from looting up till now. The final was a higher-tier satellite I sent into space.

Crafting the rover is going to be a huge game changer for me. It will increase not only my range but also the amount I get to carry back. While at first, it has quite a small amount of storage. Slowly as I craft upgrade and unlock further blueprints for it. It will become quite a powerhouse.

I was a little disappointed by one aspect of it. The base version without any upgrades will not produce oxygen. You would think having a vehicle that would be something that it came with. Thankfully much later on I was able to craft an oxygen generator module for it. That however would be quite some time from now.

My first order of business was going around collecting the resources I needed to make some upgrades to the rover. I had the blueprints to increase how much equipment (modules) it could hold, add lights, and increase its speed. Over time I'd unlock bigger storage as well.

I ended up going around to a few chests in the little habits I had set up all over the place and hauling back the resources. Most of them I no longer needed for storage so I reclaimed back the iron I used to create the storage containers. Just leaving behind the habitats for oxygen. As I'd still be needing them for that purpose.

With having my new base setup. Along with a lot of resources now piling up. I felt it was time to make a decent push to increase how fast my progression in terraforming the planet was going.

I ended up quite a few oxygen generators using plants. I had a few seeds that gave massive boosts to how much oxygen they would produce. This for quite some time ended up being my method for advancing the terraforming progress. I would just keep upgrading these and finding better seeds from things like golden chests.

With the rover, I was now heading out further than I had ever been on foot. I ended up hitting a couple of different wrecks. By this point of the game, I was no longer hording everything I found. I was stockpiling so many things like lower-tier seeds for plants and food that I no longer wanted to use the limited inventory space I had to haul them back.

During the exploration of one such wreck, I ended up finding another big game changer for myself. It was an oxygen multiplier fuse. It would give a 500% boost to oxygen production if I built an optimizer machine. While the base machine itself would only boost fix oxygen production machines within a certain range.

That is all I needed. I’d take my highest-production seeds. Build the best machines I could put them in. I would then surround that cluster with optimizer machines. I would even go on to find a few more of the oxygen multiplier fuses over several days.

It was also a bit crazy seeing the landscape now have lakes and rivers. I would explore sometimes new and even old places to see the effects the terraforming was having on this planet. I also wanted to see if I had access to any further caves that had been blocked by ice.

I would also take a moment to look down the hill from my base to see my old base slowly being overtaken by water. At one point half of the structure was underwater. I was starting to wonder if it would ever stop or if I'd have to relocate yet again at some point. Thankfully at one point, it stopped right on the edge of the bank my new base was set up along.

Now having a much larger base. I decided to build a biolab onto it. This lab would allow me to produce bioplastic fertilizer and so many other things. While this section of my base would end up going unused for quite some time. There would become a point where I'd spend more time crafting over here than at other crafting machines I'd set up in the base.

I also thought it was kind of cool the biolab had its little building that I got to attach to my base. There was even enough space around the main component of it that I'd be able to set up other machines for this kind of work in the future.

In addition to building the lab. I went back over to the rocket launch pad and ended up building a tier 2 GPS satellite. It would end up allowing me to zoom out even further from the console screen I had inside my base. When taking a look at the overview of the planet for planning out future exploration trips of where I wanted to go.

It did not take long before I even managed to upgrade the rover a couple of times over. Each little step in the storage in the back was an upgrade. It could now hold well over a full inventory and then some. Making exploring and looting so much easier now.

A lot of the time when I see some kind of particle effect over mountains or other things it’s some kind of indication of a passageway or something along those lines. Rather nice since locations are not always unlocked right away when I find them such as having ice that has yet to melt.

I for sure thought after finding this waterfall of dust. It must be hiding some massive behind it. While I did find a tiny cave it was nothing that special. I'd end up checking behind every waterfall on this planet. Most times there was nothing. Other times what I found was not worth my effort in the first place.

A couple of times the rover would end up getting stuck on a rock. While there were a few ways to get it unstuck. After each exploration trip. I usually found a set of caves that would be a pain to navigate the rover though. I would use them as shortcuts to get back home on foot. Then I'd just summon the rover back to its platform. With all the loot stored in its cargo still intact.

For quite a lot of my exploration, I kept seeing this massive half-circle off in the distance. Any time I'd tell myself today was the day I'd get to that location. I’d end up getting sidetracked finding something else or falling down a cliff.

I wish I could say I found something insane there. By the time I did get out there the loot I was able to acquire was not that great. This objective instead ended up just being a great landmark I'd keep an eye out for.

# Final Thoughts

![base.jpg](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/enjar/23wgSMCLsQCR3jqF7Tkao9mrAHMBNkDcjCn7MRHzmZcQqqD3Td2YwmTizbGq1J1RM3MwV.jpg)

Now having the rover, biolab, and a new satellite. Exploration and crafting become more obtainable. I ended up losing count of how much of my time was just spent being somewhat lost on the planet. I preferred my time away from my base exploring. Then being back at the base crafting. As crafting parts for machines to increase the speed I was terraforming the planet while my main objective for getting off this planet was not mine.
