<div class="text-justify">What do you do whenever you wake up on an off day with no work to attend to? As for me, I begin the day with smooth and easy-going music after saying ten decades of the rosary. Yes, prayer; I might not be a hyper-religious man, but I still do not joke with my prayer life. It is always the case that I prefer to start the day with cool gospel music, except for a few days when a particular song must have played so much in my mind through the night. This time, it does not necessarily matter if the song is gospel or not; I simply follow my mind. Either way, music is always the first thing that follows after my prayers.

The nature of my work demands that I sometimes be at home doing nothing. I live in my family house, and I am used to enjoying the fact that everyone has given up on me regarding the fact that I will never do house chores. I hate house chores, and somehow, I have been able to convince my family with my actions that it is not meant for me. At this point, they have learned to stop bothering me, except for the day my mother will wake up from the wrong side of her bed. In as much as I enjoy it, it sometimes gets boring; if not for music. It is always there to save the day.


I have in fact mapped out different playlists for different times of the day for my off days. Sometimes these off days last for days, or even up to a week occasionally. Either way, music always has my back. After the morning music session, which must be calm and gentle, the Afrobeat session comes next. Unlike my siblings, I do not pay attention to music artists; I simply go for the songs I like. Sometimes, I do not even know the name of the artist that plays. Since I play music the most in the house, I formerly got questions like: who sang this one? I guess everyone eventually realized that I mostly do not pay attention to artists and stopped bothering me. That, on the other hand, does not stop them from considering me weird. But then, that is just me being me.

No matter what I do during the day, I never put my music off; even when I am watching movies. Again, my siblings wonder how I am able to combine the two: movie and music. But I do it, and I do not even know how. When it gets to mid-day, I will usually hear complaints like 'you no dey tire?' In as much as the question inquires whether I am not tired, it is more of a complaint than a question. And most times, I simply pretend not to hear 😃.

I eventually get to the last session of the day; the evening session. The most beautiful thing about this session is the fact that it usually ends at the arrival of my mother, who had gone to the market since 8 am. On hearing my loud singing, she will simply say; Uzo, my body does not need that noise now. That alone is enough to tell me that I am done for the day. It is usually the case that I play songs that I am conversant with the lyrics in this last session, and so I sing along loudly. My siblings who are fond of going out during the evenings will certainly not be there, and I will certainly have nothing to bother me since I am home alone 😁; except for the arrival of my mom 😞.
