Vlog 134: Backend development on Steem.
There is something irritating about backend development.

If it's done right there is a good chance that you as a user don't notice anything. Which is actually a good thing.

I notice this in my own work. The difference is I don't develop but I maintain.

When I fix a potential problem before it becomes a real problem it's very useful for the company I do it for but they won't perceive it that way.

It's just something that is expected of me.

But if I make a small tweak in a workflow to make it more efficient for the users it's instantly appreciated as something great.

Both actions are useful but often only the latter gets recognition.

Perception is everything I guess.

I recommend reading this [post](https://steemit.com/steemfest/@lukestokes/steemfest-bridging-the-gap-between-perception-and-reality) by @lukestokes.

It's a fun read to learn more about what the STEEM team has done that you might not know about.

In my vlog I talk about it more, also about Bitcoin segwit2x, syncing my Ethereum Wallet troubles, Utopian.io project and STEEM price.

ps. Steem price is back above a dollar while writing this! nice!
