Today I took some clippings from the two female Big Mack Superstar's I'm growing from seed.

Now the clippings *(2 of each plant, 1 rooted of each I'll be keeping)* are in their 3D printed net pots and covered with a nice homemade 3D printed humidity dome :D

I'll need to keep them moist and happy. With bad pH in the past I averaged two week rooting and a pretty high failure rate. I'm hoping for 100% success rate this time. 

I decided to take more than one clipping to increase my rooting odds but am only keeping one of each rooted clipping to maintain legal compliance, despite the fact that I'd really love to have more cannabis plants and find the legislations to be restrictive and unlawful in nature.

It's best to know for certain the sex of your cannabis when cloning, and in this case I am 100% sure of the sex of both plants, due to the wispy pistils, which can be seen in the photo above. 

Pre-sex pistils happen in vegetative stage when the plant is healthy and entering a state of maturity. This is also an indicator that the plant is ready to flower and merely becomes a matter of the growers preferences in how big they want to grow the plant before inducing flowering. Sometimes certain training methods become necessary, as cannabis will get kind of bushy and not want to grow upwards as much. 

Taking clippings is the perfect time to employ some training. 

Some growers like to keep their plant bushy because of the stored nutrients in the foliage, and I agree with this, but I also like easy access to my soil and a good view on the branch network, so I trim up the bottom of the plant during the clipping process and this will force new upward growth, and being that these plants are in rapid growth, it won't take them long to get huge.

At first glance these plants appear to be brutalized, and it all respects they kind of are. Compare them to the intro photos and it is obvious. 

Not only did I cut away a lot of foliage, I've become well adept at inflicting breakage of the inner stem fiber structures in a manner that I know to the touch of how far I am taking it. 

At this point of explanation it is a little difficult to explain these training methods because it requires a type of relationship with the plant that develops with time and experience. I employed a medium fiber breakage in the stems, and this will promote better bud growth later on, but is also very shocking to the plant. Since I took so much off I decided to not give them my harshest fiber smashing technique, but they'll get more later on anyway.

If nothing goes extremely wrong *(like a power outage or major mistake from me)* then these plants will still grow to be big, beautiful, and bushy, but with branch structures that are just a little more visible underneath.
