Integrating A New Layer Of Security.
When the name **Hive** comes to mind, it brings this genuine smile to my face and I always have a lot to say about the blockchain that has brought people together and changed lives across the globe. Hive has given me more than I can ask from a social platform and it opened my eyes to the endless possibilities plus opportunities on Web3.

When I saw the first prompt for this week, I had to think critically because Hive is perfect compared to many platforms that pretend to be decentralised whereas they aren't. I have always said that there are lots of intelligent people on the blockchain who are always thinking of possible ways to make Hive improve in all ramifications and they are doing a superb job. Talk about the Hive (UI) User interface, the blockchain speed and scalability, transaction fee, decentralisation, community governance, security and many others, they are all running smoothly for me.

If **PERFECT** was a social platform, it would definitely be **HIVE** and regardless, there are a few upgrades that can take things to a whole different level for members of the platform.

During my early days on Hive, I had a few things I really wanted to see on the platform and I felt like these things would boost the activity and growth of Hive. Without discussing any of it with anyone, these things happened on Hive which tells how much effort developers on Hive are working hard to implement important features on different frontend.

One of them was the Peakd chat option which gives members the privilege to chat on the blockchain. Although a lot of us are used to Discord chat but it makes a lot of sense to me when I can just buzz a fellow Hiver without having to log into Discord. There are different upgrades I have seen from different frontend in the last two years since I joined Hive and they have all made things quite easier for us one way or the other.

In addition to all of these, I believe there are still upgrades that can happen on Hive. Upon seeing the prompt, what came to my mind was the possibility of using not only Hive keys for account security on the blockchain. It might sound somehow but I think it will be cool if a Biometric security system can be adopted on the blockchain in addition to the Hive keys.

As we all know, we have human body parts that are unique and over the years, we have seen the uniqueness of these parts being integrated into the upgrades of both physical and software security systems. Examples are the use of Face unlock and fingerprint to unlock our phones, initiate transactions and many others. I can tell that almost every one of us uses these features on our devices because they make things easier.

---------

The use of Biometrics is quite faster and it wouldn't be a bad idea if adopted by different frontend of the Hive ecosystem. For instance, being logged out of the Hive-related apps is one thing many of us encounter often and I find it stressful to always copy my keys or lazy to input my password but with the help of the Biometric security system, copying of keys always wouldn't be necessary.

The Hive keys wouldn't be useless after all, they can be required for logging into Hive on a new device, when doing some high-level transactions or settings on our accounts. The use of Biometrics wouldn't be compulsory and it's just like having another login option on the blockchain just like we have Hivesigner, Keychain and others.

The Biometric option would make logging in quicker and we wouldn't even need to be throwing our keys out there for different purposes all the time. Since our fingerprints are unique, I don't think people's Hive accounts will be exposed to any threat.

-----

There are challenges with biometrics as well which is why the Hive Keys will always remain relevant and I believe that Biometric security system adoption will definitely boost the level of security on Hive members account; it would serve as an additional layer of security.

Thanks for reading.
