Exploring the Rugged Coastline
During our travels to Porto Santo, we visited the easternmost side of the island too. We didn't really know what there is or is to see but the road was going in this direction so we decided to check it out. Overall the coastline is full of cliffs and rocks but there was one spot that had a beach. On one side there was a rocky beach and on the other side, there was a very small sandy part that we too used for swimming. Below is the photo of this place, as you can see we were not the only ones in this extremely small patch of sandy area.

The water is really nice. About 25 degrees C warm and clear blue.

Having done with swimming, it was time to explore the area a bit more and have some photos taken.

It looks like there are some buildings on the side of the sandstone cliff. Buildings that are long abandoned, I wonder if someone lived there once.

We decided to see where one gravel road leads us. As we were riding a quad bike, it was an enjoyable ride on a tiny road path.

Some views that we got to see on the gravel path.

The path led us through a small tunnel, too small for a car to fit through. Of course, we were eager to see what was on the other side. Well, the road ended on the other side and there was nowhere to go, except to fall down the cliff into the ocean. There was a tiny area where we were able to stop and have a look around.

The photo below is the last photo taken with my old camera, at a restaurant that we just ate in. About a minute after this photo was taken, I smashed the camera in half pretty much. The lens was broken and the shutter on my camera was stuck. This is a nightmare for me because now I had no camera anymore and I'm traveling. Fortunately, it was pretty much the last day of our travels anyway and I had thoughts about wanting to buy a new better camera anyway. For the remainder of our stay in Porto Santo, I used my girlfriend's DSLR camera. This is total crap and I hated it but it's better than nothing I guess.

Here is the last shot with my old cam.
