I wasn't one to be seen at a gathering like this but for this one it just couldn't be helped. Most of the day had been uneventful for me as i zoned out most of the time. 

From the church ceremony in the morning and now the after party holding in the garden for family and friends. It wasn't that i wasn't enjoying myself, but i wasn't the type of person to mix freely at a party.

I was still seated in my not too lit corner by some flowers, staring at the night sky and wondering when the guests would deem it an end to the night and leave for their houses when i was brought back to reality as someone stood in front of me saying something.

I had a vague notion that i was being asked a question and it required an answer but for the first few seconds all that was going through my mind was that this was the most beautiful woman I'd ever seen.

The color of her eyes as they sparkled in the moonlight, the elegant and yet simplistic look she gave off and in those few seconds i understood what love at first sight meant.

A sharp cough reminded me I had been staring and for a few seconds more than was considered polite.

"I'm sorry miss, what did you say?" I asked

"I just came over to congratulate you. Some of the guests pointed out you were over here"

"Errr, I'm sorry I'm not following. Who're you again?"

"That was silly of me Jack. I thought you would remember my face" she laughed

"Remember me? I'm May. I was a little late because I had to fly over here and couldn't get a morning flight" she continued but it was obvious from the confused look on my face that I didn't recognize her.

"Jack it's me.  I'm your wife's friend remember"

At the mention of Jack and wife all the confusion immediately left my face and I burst out laughing in understanding. My switch from a confused face to laughter must've looked like I was playing a joke on her.

"Miss, My name isn't Jack. Besides i'm very much single." I replied

I was still trying to come up with an explanation to the situation but it seemed she'd already had enough of my joke as she stormed away in anger.

"That didn't go too well now did it?" a voice in the dark asked

Although the area I was seated was not lit, I didn't need the light to recognize Jack's voice. Jack was my twin brother and he was the one getting married today.
The lady who'd just stormed away must've mistaken me for him, because she apparently wasn't aware he had a twin.

"How long have you been standing there. Also why didn't you speak up earlier"  I asked angrily

"I actually thought it was funny. That aside though there's a high probability you'll never see her again after this party. So don't stress it" Jack replied

"Explain"

" she's an air hostess and that means she's always traveling from one country to another" Jack explained

"You can call me crazy bro but I think im in love"

"You're joking right"

"All the years we grew up together, does this sound like a joke"

"Well you're quite right, I'm inclined to believe you but only because you have a terrible sense of humor i must say" said Jack and burst out laughing as I glared at him

Ignoring my look, he continued "It looks like you're actually sincere. Alright bro I'll be your wingman, let's go find you your bride"

Jack continued his animated chatter and i stuck with him as he went in search of May. 
I didn't want to go with Jack as he kept teasing me with what he called pointers to get a lady and i was regretting my decision by the second.
But I was also determined to make a better impression and I believed it would be best if Jack did the introductions and cleared the air.

May was nowhere to be found and Jack soon left me to my search. I decided to go into the house to get a bottle of water.
I was just coming from the kitchen with my  bottle of water and there she was standing on the stairs looking straight at me.

"So I hear you're a twin"

"Errr, yes i am" I replied. All molecules of water vanishing from my brain at that instant.

"Apologies for earlier. Juliet told me who you were when I pointed you out"

"Oh no it's fine, it wasn't your fault. I should be the one apologizing, all I had to do was explain to you who I was"

"True. I guess our apologies cancel each other out then" May said and thrust her hands towards me in an offer of handshake

"Friends?" May asked

I took her hand in mine and answered "Friends"

I was just thinking how beautiful and delicate her hand was when I heard her cough slightly. I must've zoned out again and I was still holding her hand, embarrassed and offering my apologies i quickly let go of her hand.

We continued our conversation and although i felt i wasn't doing so well with my confidence level but May didn't seem to mind  as she seemed to be enjoying my flustered act. 

So I decided to go all out and ask her out on a date and surprisingly she agreed, but mentioned she was only in the country for two days and would be going out of the country soon. I decided to work with what I had

We decided to join the party happening outside and as we walked out side by side, it felt like a magical moment to me. But unlike most magic that was based off illusions, the beautiful lady smiling beside me was very much real.
