## MATCH ANALYSIS

The opening match of the Fifa WorldCup 2022 in Qatar sees the hosts play a tough match against their opponents Ecuador.

The ***Group A*** sees among its protagonists:

+ Qatar
+ Ecuador
+ Senegal
+ Holland

I start by analysing the group in question. In my opinion it is a very difficult, balanced and tenacious group. It might have some surprises in store, but insiders tend to predict a passage to the round for Holland and Senegal. For me, Holland and Senegal are actually stronger and more prepared than the other two teams in the group, with players who shine in European football. Senegal could be the real revelation of this World Cup, even if they had to give up Sadio Manè, the reigning African champions are promising.

Qatar is playing for everything, the goal is to pass the round. It is certainly not an easy thing given the opponents they are up against. Ecuador is not a team to be underestimated. Ecuador qualified for the World Cup by finishing behind Brazil, Argentina and Uruguay. They certainly had to contend with great teams in their qualifying group.
Qatar, on the other hand, as the host country, qualified for the World Cup by right and only played friendlies in the pre-World Cup period, taking home a few wins.

Qatar would certainly not want to disfigure themselves at home, in front of their own people. This is, in my opinion, the most affordable of matches. They will try hard to get points.


In the past few days, there has even been talk of a case of sports match-fixing and corruption. The news about Qatar-Ecuador was not the best. Apparently, many witnesses, insiders in Qatar of Ecuadorian origin, swore that Qatar tried to bribe Ecuador and Ecuadorian players to lose the match.

It seems, however, that the news was soon debunked, and I am confident that this is not something that really happened but may just be the fanciful pen of some journalist looking for easy clicks to their online articles

## MY PREDICTION 

For me this will be an inside or outside match for Qatar, the right opportunity to score points and not to disfigure at home and in front of its people.

However, you don't play football alone. One has rivals. And Ecuador is not a bad team, they will try in every way to get points given the very difficult round they are in.

For me this is an X game, a draw. 

A draw then, a result that would partially satisfy both teams even if it would leave many regrets on both sides. Surely both would like to come out of the challenge with full points and take home the 3 points needed to give a strong signal to Group A and make sense of the group itself, before meeting the formations of Senegal and Holland.

## TALENTS TO WATCH

I wanted to play a bit of a game and pick one player per team that I think could stand out within the path of this World Cup.

For the Qatar national team, I would recommend Mohammed Al-Amri. Left-back and possible revelation for this national team.

As for the Ecuador national team, I would recommend Piero Hincapié, a young defender with Bayern Leverkusen and one of the most promising defenders on the international scene.

## ANALISI DEL MATCH

La gara inaugurale della Fifa WorldCup 2022 in Qatar vede giocare proprio i padroni di casa in una ostica partita contro gli avversari dell'Ecuador.

Il ***Gruppo A*** vede tra i suoi protagonisti:

+ Qatar
+ Ecuador
+ Senegal
+ Olanda

Parto dall'analizzare il girone in questione. Secondo me è un girone molto difficile, equilibrato e tenace. Potrebbe riservare qualche sorpresa ma tendenzialmente gli addetti ai lavori pronosticano un passaggio turno di Olanda e Senegal. Per me Olanda e Senegal sono effettivamente più forti e più preparate rispetto alle altre due squadre del girone, con player che brillano nel calcio europeo. Il Senegal potrebbe essere la vera rivelazione di questo mondiale, anche se hanno dovuto rinunciare a Sadio Manè, i campioni d'Africa in carica promettono bene.

Il Qatar si gioca il tutto per tutto, obbiettivo passare il turno. Di certo non è una cosa semplice visto le avversarie con cui si trova a lottare. L'Ecuador non è una squadra da sottovalutare. L'Ecuador si è qualificata ai Mondiali finendo alle spalle di Brasile, Argentina e Uruguay. Di certo ha dovuto vedersela con grandi squadre nel proprio girone di qualificazione.
Il Qatar invece essendo paese ospitante ha acquisito per diritto la qualificazione ai Mondiali ed ha giocato soltanto amichevoli nel periodo premondiale portandosi a casa qualche vittoria.

Di certo il Qatar non vorrebbe sfigurare proprio in casa sua, davanti alla sua gente. Questa è , secondo me, la più abbordabile delle partite. Proverà fino in fondo a ottenere punti.


Negli scorsi giorni si è addirittura parlato di un caso di combine sportivo e corruzione. Le notizie che giravano in merito a Qatar-Ecuador non erano delle migliori. Pare che molti testimoni, addetti ai lavori in Qatar di origine ecuadoregna, abbiano giurato che il Qatar abbia tentato di corrompere l'Ecuador e i calciatori Ecuadoregni affinchè perdessero la partita.

Sembra però che la notizia sia stata presto smentita, e sono fiducioso che questo non è un fatto che sia realmente accaduto ma che possa essere soltanto la penna fantasiosa di qualche giornalista in cerca di click facili ai propri articoli online

## IL MIO PRONOSTICO 

Per me questo sarà un match da dentro o fuori per il Qatar, l'occasione giusta per fare punti e per non sfigurare in casa sua e davanti alla sua gente.

Ma, tuttavia, a calcio non si gioca da soli. Si ha dei rivali. E l'Ecuador non è una squadra da niente, anzi proverà in tutti i modi a fare punti visto il girone molto difficile in cui sono capitati.

Per me questa è una partita da X, pareggio. 

Pareggio dunque, un risultato che accontenterebbe in parte tutte e due le formazioni anche se lascerebbe molti rimpianti da una parte e dall'altra. Sicuramente entrambe vorrebbe uscire dalla sfida a punteggio pieno e portarsi a casa i 3 punti necessari a dare un segnale forte al Girone A e a dare un senso al girone stesso, prima di incontrare le formazioni di Senegal ed Olanda.

## TALENTI DA OSSERVARE

Ho voluto fare una specie di giochino e scegliere un player a squadra che secondo me potrebbe distinguersi all'interno del cammino di questo mondiale.

Per la nazionale del Qatar mi sento di consigliarvi Mohammed Al-Amri. Terzino sinistro e possibile rivelazione di questa nazionale.

Per quanto riguarda invece la Nazionale dell'Ecuador mi sento di consigliare Piero Hincapié, giovane difensore in forza al Bayern Leverkusen e uno tra i difensori più promettenti del panorama internazionale.
