<hr>

I'm not going to pretend like I understand I understand what it means to experience a winter. Infact I have a medical condition that a cold winter or snow can cause flare up.

However we mostly equate "winter" to a tough period. We see it as a time to hibernate, survive, endure and fight.

You know that time when you are in doubt, want to give up or don't have tht strength to share and all you want to do is to just let go. This is called winter I guess. There aren't a lot of outdoor activities.

# The winter analogy

Inasmuch as it looks really bad, it actually doesn't last forever and people can actually survive and come out on the other side.

The current crypto market conditions is currently one of the worst since 2017, and sometimes we wonder if it's just the regular winter, or THE WINTER that makes sure we never see a summer again.

# 99% of crypto projects are having a hard time

Recently a project called story protocol launched in 2024. It's an IP ownership protocols that raised $134M and did massive volumes in the first few months, but only generating 15$ in daily volumes as of today.

The founder has left the project, they've delayed aidrop token meant for their community, locked the token of others and the chain is almost abandoned.

Magic Newton was supposed to be the blockchain of blockchains, but the chain gave influencers their aidrop and neglected their community. They raised $88M dollars from investors but tht chain is almost dead.

There are actually projects like these everywhere; good tech, good money, may bad teams, but majorly suffering from bad market conditions.

Lombard finance once had a oversubscribed ICO sales of over $120M, but the market has currently affected their chain, and I have checked so far to check their TCL and recent activities. I think this can be found on DUNE.

# Hive

With Hive we've seen the recent drop in activities since January 2025, it's faced a sharp decline. The debt ratio too, it rose the highest since 2021 in February this year.

I still think we'd get 3 cents Hive soon, and how the witnesses plans to handle this is really up up them, if they don't then I don't even know what will happen.

The witnesses haven't really done a lot, and if we weren't a DPOS chain, some of them might be out of that position for a long time, but I guess they're mostly comfortable because it requires more than just the regular ranting to remove them.

My point is that it's looking like 90% of crypto projects might not make it to 2028/29, and we haven't even seen BTC at 35k yet. This means the fear and the panic isn't even at its maximum yet and we're already feeling panic, pain and disappointed. We might as well pack it up before then

# Finally

On the bright side Hive has survived a lot. I don't think if this would be the worst it'll need to survive, but this should be very easy if the witnesses actually did something to shore up the chain, fix a few things and get people believing again.

I was doing a little digging yesterday and I discovered something very sad and disheartening on the chain yesterday, but I'll rather keep it to myself yesterday and just hope the witnesses can wake up fast, get their feet up and begin to work.

They'll probably be the biggest losers if the chain chain folds up, since they probably get paid no matter what. The goal is to survive the winter no matter what
