Reaching out is about rendering help and support to someone in need which could be your time, your energy and resources. It is not about helping to get something in return but it's about been kind, compassionate and supportive to people facing one challenge or the other. Reaching out to people shows that you feel and understand their need and you are willing to help and assist them even without them asking.

I remembered a day I was returning home from work, I was standing beside a pedestrian bridge waiting for a public transport vehicle. I then notice a man sitting on the bridge with the countenance of his face change, he look very troubled and worried. I was curious to ask if something was wrong with him and so I asked him if he was okay. It happen that he was waiting for someone who was supposed to come pick him up but the person didn't come for over an hour now and he's stranded. Without him requesting for help, I decided to ask him if he need assistance which he agreed. I was having some money with me and I decided to give him something that can take him home. I could see the happiness in him and how his countenance change with smiles around. He was very happy and we both entered the same vehicle. That's how we became friends till date.

The joy of reaching out to someone is that you are able to put a smile on them and also give them hope. Many people live in difficult situations and some may not open up to tell you this is their problem, but you on your own decide to give a helping hand. Even a small action taking by you to help someone can touch and change that person's life.
During the period I was serving my father land (NYSC), my colleagues and I decided to take a tour around the community we were posted to and observe some of the challenges they were facing. We observed many challenges and decided to take it upon ourselves to handles some of the challenges that is within our capacity. One of the challenges we took was to fix the bad road and to dig proper drainage system along those roads. With the help of some of the youths in the community, we went out looking for stones and packing sand to fill up the potholes on the road while some were digging the drainage system so water can pass through easily during the raining season.

There were student's in the school where I was posted to teach still within the community. Many of them just come to school without note books and writing materials. Most times out of the little allowance I get, I use it to buy some notebooks and the writing materials for some of the student even though I could not afford to buy for all of them.

You don't need to have much before you can help someone, even the little action taken by you can matter alot in someone's life.

A small act of kindness can make a big difference in someone's life. When we reach out to people in need, we are giving them hope. Reachout to someone today, touch someone's life and put a smile on the face of someone.
