Nigerians have been waiting for an angel for years now. The angel with wings? Hopefully, but that's not the angle we have been waiting for. We've been waiting for the angel of salvation. Honestly, Nigerians have been through a lot. Two decades ago, things were not as bad as they are now. Two decades ago, people could still afford things and live happily. A country is supposed to be developing, why is ours getting worse day by day? The big question is; Who exactly is the angel and how long do we have to wait for this supposed angel? We are waiting for that president who'd change things for the better. A president with the spirit of sympathy and empathy who'd have the interest of his citizens by heart. However, it seems our wishes are still buried under a deep-rooted tree in Wishvile.

 A few months ago, there was a presidential election. Nigerians hoped that the elected president would change the country for the better. Yes, the election was rigged and an “unqualified” person got selected and not elected. Some Nigerians hoped that this new president would change the country. In fact, some of them stood their ground and supported him because they thought he was “the angel” they had been waiting for. Things started getting worse from the first day this man started ruling. Inflation has taken control of the country. Inflation is the persistent increase in the price of goods and services over a period of time. The prices of goods and services in the country is absolutely ridiculous. The people are slowly dying. How am I coping in this period of inflation? Below is a list of some of the things I do to cope during this period of inflation.


<center> **STAY AWAY FROM FRIVOLOUS/ UNNECESSARY THINGS**</center>


Yes! Human wants are insatiable. We love good things. There's something funny and somehow amusing about the human mindset; we live expensive things. Even though we don't have the money to get them, we still admire them. Of course, there's nothing wrong with admiring good things, just do not struggle to buy them if you don't have enough money. Have you ever heard of this popular saying; if you can't afford to buy it twice, then don't buy it. For example, if you can't afford to buy an expensive wristwatch twice, then you shouldn't buy it at all. Here in my country, what most youth think about is buying cars. Some of them don't even have the money to maintain their cars. I love good food, shirts, sneakers, and all other things, but this period demands that I cut some things off. Reduce the number of your wants and focus solely on your needs.

<center> **STAY INFORMED**</center>

Yes, another way to cope during This period is to keep up with trends. Stay informed. This helps you keep up with the prices of goods and services. Some marketers are just using this period to intentionally double the price of their products. Don't be gullible to fall into the hands of these people. Stay informed on the prices of every important goods you need.

<center>**LEARN TO SAVE**</center>


Inflation can come with surprises. It can come with unexpected expenses, and that is why you have to learn how to save. Thanks to my parents, I learned how to save when I was a kid. The importance of saving money cannot be overestimated. You don't know what this country can throw your way. Recently, the current president initiated the removal of fuel subsidies. I supported his action, but what I do not agree with is his lack of plan. A step like that requires a backup plan. How do you expect citizens to cope with the sudden removal of fuel subsidies? A few months ago, the price of 1 liter of fuel was around 280/300 naira, but the current prev of fuel now is 627/700 (double the price of what it used to be a few months ago). As a result of inflation in the price of fuel, prices of goods and services have also skyrocketed.


 In conclusion, while inflation can be a big pain, we have the power to control things if we think wisely and take the right steps to save, stay informed, spend wisely, and budget.
