The narrative about the world being overpopulated is one that was spread far and wide a few years ago. It was taught in schools and I remember accepting that as it was because "teachers know it all". Well, that's what I thought during high school but I started to dig deeper and ask important questions as I became more informed about stuff.

The truth right now is that the whole "we are living in an overpopulated world" agenda no longer looks appealing to me. Not when it's self-evident that we are on the verge of a wild population collapse and we may end up in a situation where the world may have to deal with a massive issue of underpopulation.

###### I'm sure you are aware of the recurring crisis that has been eating into the world population; 

**1. War isn't helping the population.** 

How many wars are currently going on in this moment? The one between Ukraine and Russia that took center stage a few years ago is still ongoing. The recent Isreal Hamaz war is still blazing hot. These two already cost an insane amount of lives, but if you think that's the only war that's currently going on at this moment, then, you really haven't been paying attention. 

**2. Outbreak of diseases.**

Memories of the COVID-19 pandemic (whether it really ever occurred or not) are still very fresh in a lot of people's minds and the number of lives that were lost on record to that pandemic is enough to melt brains. Let's not forget that there are recurring endemics in different parts of the world and all of these play a big part in the overall population 

**3. Same-sex marriage:** 

Hehe... This is insane. This is like the "untouchable holy grail" because the world has its way of shutting people up and making them suffer dearly once they express an uninspiring opinion about this. Well, if the idea is that the world is overpopulated, promoting same-sex marriage is a really interesting approach that is being used to make sure that the "population issue" won't go on. On the grand scheme of things, they know the consequence of what they are doing.

**4. High Cost of Living.**

Take this generation for an example; The high cost of living and other complex variables currently require both parents to work and I don't imagine that any reasonable person would want to have more kids than he/she can afford to comfortably take care of. What's that number? 1? 0? You'd be surprised.

While "overpopulation" is getting the limelight in mainstream media, there has been a recurring question that asks;

> Should the government regulate the number of kids that families can have to control the country's population?

Most of the solutions to overpopulation that are being projected by those that think we have "too many people on the planet" have been preposterous. But, this whole idea of the government regulating the number of kids that families can have is the one that I would never want to see in my country. 

Not because I want to have a dozen kids. Nope. I'm not going that far. However, the experience I've had with the Nigerian government and its regulations has been a pure disaster. And, you want to have them dictate how things would be done in people's homes? 

Think, again!

If we are to assume that the world is truly faced with an overpopulation problem, I'm sure there are solutions to that. But, certainly, having the government as dictators of the number of kids that are allowed in any home doesn't seem like a solution in my books. That smells like a recipe for disaster.
