Sometimes, a bad strategy ends up working somehow!

*This post is an entry to the [SHARE YOUR BATTLE Weekly Challenge - GARGOYA SCRAPPER](https://ecency.com/splinterlands/@splinterlands/share-your-battle-weekly-challenge-gargoyascrapper)!*

# **GARGOYA SCRAPPER** **LORE** >*When the Chaos Legion entered the Splinterlands through the rift in Mount Praetorius and laid to ruin the great castle of the Gargoya, many of the stone gargoyles fled across the sea and scattered to other continents. However, some remained in the rubble, searching for a way to rebuild their kingdom. These became known as Scrappers. Scrappers despise the Chaos Legion for destroying their home. Now, they seek the knowledge to create more of their kind and, using what they learn, build more Gargoya. Across the Splinterlands, they have established workstations to grow their numbers and advance their culture, creating Gargoyas of countless sizes and varieties. Their ultimate goal is to avenge their fallen brethren, rebuild their home, and see to the defeat of the Chaos Legion.* **CARD DETAILS (Level 1)** **Mana Cost**: 1 **Splinter**: LIFE **Edition**: CHAOS LEGION **Rarity**: COMMON **Stats**: 1 Melee Attack, 2 Health, 2 Speed **Ability**: **Void** at Level 3 (*Reduced damage from Magic attacks Attack damage gets halved [rounded up], except Attack 1 which deals 0 damage*)

# **The Match**

[**Link to the Match**](https://splinterlands.com?p=battle&id=sm_uAtpEQS71CpHYal7DypP&ref=luizeba)
Let's write about something different this week! I usually write a report about my Ranked Matches, but this week I'll be analyzing a **GUILD BRAWL** Match! If you don't know what Guild Brawls are, they're special matches that you can only participate together with your Guildmates. You fight against members of other Guilds and the winners earn **MERITS**, a special currency that allows you to buy **GLADIUS PACKS**, cards that are way stronger than normal but can only be used on Brawl Matches. Talking specifically about my match, I'll have to be honest with you, my dear reader: **I won the match by sheer luck!** Why? Well, I actually created a good strategy beforehand. If my enemy played as I expected he would have, I would have ROLFSTOMPED him hard and easily won the match. Unfortunately, **he played literally the opposite**, and all my strategy went straight into the trash. Almost **none of my cards actually had an impact on the game**. But, even then, I was able to win the match! That's what I call being lucky! As you can see, the **match dragged until the Round #12**, because both me and my opponent were barely able to hit and deal damage. And the damage that was being done was being healed or repaired anyways. **So the match took a looooooooong time to finish!**

**Let's analyze my team!** - My Summoner is **Chanseus the Great**. For the last few months I've decided to invest and dedicate myself into the Brawl Matches, and I've been renting strong Summoners in order to win more matches and farm more Merit Points. Chanseus is one of the strongest Summoners in Splinterlands with 3 different defensive abilities: **Repair, Triage and Ressurect**. **Repair** allowed him to recover 2 Armor per turn on my tank **Shieldbearer**, while **Triage** healed my backline. Unfortunately, the **Ressurect** ability wasn't too useful as it ended up ressurecting the weakest Monster of my team, the **Furious Chicken**. Bad luck, I guess ๐ฅ - The frontline tank is the **Gargoya Scrapper**. My initial strategy was that this Monster should have been just a cheap damage-soaker that would tank some damage until he quickly died and gave place to my actual strong tank, the **Shieldbearer**. Unfortunately, my enemy tank had only 2 Damage, so he took A LONG TIME to actually kill my Gargoya Scrapper, messing up with my strategy. In the end, the Gargoya ended up being alive for well over half of the match, way more than what I expected initially! - My 2nd Monster is the **Shieldbearer**. Due the +2 Armor per round from the Summoner's **Repair** ability, he was able to absorb all the incoming damage from my enemy's **Tower Griffin** without actually being hitted. He also was able to attract the attacks from the **Ice Pixie**, that were weak enough to not be able to actually kill the Shieldbearer! - My 3rd Monster is **Venari Wavesmith**. Due her **Tank Heal** ability, she was able to keep healing my Gargoya Scrapper and mitigating the damage that he was taking!. Also, slowly but surely, she was able to deal 1 Ranged Damage per turn on my enemy's tank. - My 4th Monster is the **Pelacor Arbalest**. The famous Life Splinter damage dealer with 2 Ranged Damage and the allmighty **Double Strike** ability, allowing him to attack twice per round. He simply was 80% of the offensive capabilities of my team: if this Monster died, I had no other reliable and significant damage source. - My 5th and last Monster is the **Furious Chicken**. This 0-Mana Monster is a staple on Splinterlands, and can literally fit in any team. I put him in the last place because I expected my enemy to play some Monster with the **Sneak** ability; in this case, the Chicken would tank the damage and protect the Pelacor Arbalest. Unfortunately, my enemy didn't played sneaky Monsters, and my Chicken was literally useless during the match.

**Good News, Everyone! The battle was a Success**!
**The match was a close call**! My team had a HORRIBLE time in actually hitting the enemy team due the low Speed of all my Monsters! While my own Monsters had only 2 Speed, the enemy team was full of 4 or 5 Speed Monsters! Not only that, but two my opponent's Monsters had the **Flying** ability, increasing in +25% their evasion against my non-Flying Monsters! Each Round I was barely able to hit 1 or 2 times! Total nightmare! And while I kept missing attacks, my enemy was able to hit 100% of the time, slowly chipping away the Health of my Monsters. Luckly, I had lots of healing capabilities: my 1st Monster was being healed due the **Tank Heal** ability from the Venari Crystalsmith; my Shieldbearer Armor was being recovered due the Summoner's **Repair** ability; and both the Venari Crystalsmith and the Pelacor Arbalest were being healed every other round due the **Triage** ability from my Summoner! In the other hand, my enemy had zero healing capability: each damage received was a damage that actually stayed forever. Thus, slowly but surely, I was able to kill his Monsters while I kept healing my own team. **After TWELVE long rounds, finally his last Monster perished, and I brought glory to my Guild!**
**GGWP**
Thanks for reading this Battle Report, and until next time!

## **New Player Bonus Offer** If you're a new Splinterlands player that still haven't bought the 10$ Summoner's Spellbook, you can help both you and me by creating a new account using my Referral Link [HERE](https://splinterlands.com?ref=luizeba).
